2001 mxzx440 with added oil injection. Id like to temporarily disable it though. Can I just pull the oil tank and plug the hose or does the pump rely on the incoming oil for lube?? Id really like to be able to just leave the pump on, with the cable disconnected if thats possible. I need to go back to premix for a little bit but I really dont wanna pull that pump off as it was a huge pain to get it installed (actually had to pull the motor to get access to the bolts)

Im not experienced enough to say this is for sure the case, but Im pretty sure that if you are going to keep the pump on you will need to keep feeding it oil, or it will burn/seize up. I may be wrong, but thats just my thought. I think you will have to take it off.
Why do you need to run premix?

Well i don't have a 440 race sled like yourslef, I do premix my gas. My sled mechanic left the oil pump and resevoir there on my sled, but so i wouldn't burn up the pump he took the shaft that run's the oil pump right off and he also took the little plastic impeller off too. I hope this helps you.

ok thats what I pretty much figured. Its because I'm going to be doing some more water skipping. I just dont want to risk and deal with possibly getting water into the oil then draining, bleeding....its just alot easier to deal the the gas only.
