I have a 96 xlt rmk that I just put triple pipes on and a 151 track does anyone know if these engines are still reliable after being bored ported etc. or should I just stick to bolt on mods? Thanks for your help.

send the cases and crank to slp for a bearing mod and welding.

Also what kind of horsepower do you think I can get out of this and still be reliable. I would like to have between 130 and 140 do you think that is too far off?

Make sure before any mods are done to beef up the crank bearings.........xlt's weren't meant to spin @ 9300+ rpm's.............don't expect to get 130-140hp.........be happy with 120 reliable hp...........remember these only made about 90 hp in stock form..........have fun & take time to make sure everything is done correctly...............
