I'm looking into buying a 1.25 ripsaw. Right now i have a 14" track on my sled. What is the difference between the 14" and the 15"? Is there anything i have to do to switch to a 15"? Also im looking to put 144 in it. What is a good stud height for a 1.25? Thanks

I believe the 15" wide track will go right in with no modifcation. You have same skid as any other pro x and I believe same big aluminum drive axle that I have in my pro x2.

I'm running 96 woody's 1.325" down the center with double digger plates on the 1.25" in my x2. They are pretty much useless, barely stick above the lugs. I would go with a 1.4" stud. I don't think woody's makes a 1.4", but i know stud boy does. Don't know about other manufacturers.

greg go with the 136 not 144 and as for the track the narrow the more you control the sled like a dirt bike

Think he's talking about "144" studs, not the track length.

Yes, I was talking about 144 studs. So 1.4 should get good penetration? I like woody's but if they dont make a 1.4 I may have to go elsewhere. And the 15" track should swap in no problem. I shouldn't have to adjust anything?? Track alignment should be fine??

the difference between a 15inch track and a 14 inch track is 1 inch... glad i could help...

ZRman! LOL!!!! ya know I thought it but didnt say it :beerchug:
Actually I've been tossin around the idea of taking the 1 1/4 Ripsaw 15" track off my new 600 HO and putting on the same thing but only a 14" wide. Wieght savings???? Not sure if its enough to make it worth it and not sure if it will make the sled feel more unstable. I am however fairly certain it will make it easier to toss the sled around. OPINIONS????

I had '04 pro xr 440 with 14" wide track and it was much easier to toss around then my x2. Of course there are a lot more factors involved with the handling of these 2 sleds so it may not be all in the track.

pro xr rider, I wouldn't worry about using stud boy studs. I've been faithful to woody's with every sled myself, but I did have 1.625" stud boys with a 1.5" track on my 440 and I loved them. They held up very well to trail abuse. Actually if you hold a woody's gold digger and a stud boy stud side by side they look identical. Not sure there is even a difference.

a narrower track is alot easier to toss around in powder. But, floatation won't be nearly as good. You wouldn't think a one inch difference on the track width would make a big difference, but look at what ski-doo did with there powder and hybrid sleds. Made the tracks 16 inches wide for more floatation...

121x15 track roughly 1815 inches of surface area, about a 1/3 of that on the ground at one time
121x 14 track roughly 1700
136x15 track about 2040
136x 14 track about 1900
136x 16 track right around 2180

so if floatation is a factor, surely get the wider track
AKRAY4PLAY
you will be able to bolt the 15" wide track in with no problems. the 14" wide was for less rotation mass and more psi per sq/ft. eaquting to a better launch on firm snow.

Thats mostly what i was looking for AKRAY4PLAY. Thanks. Also, for a 1.25" ripsaw, 1.4" studs should be perfect? Will they hit the tunnel? Extra tunnel protectors? Thanks guys.
mogulmasher
1.4" studs will clear everything no problem. I've already checked my sled (should be same as yours for clearance) cause I'm switching to 1.4"s.
