hey guys well i am going to pull my engine and now i am a little frustrated at myself, so i am in need of info on what to pull, the pump itself, or the cable and how to pull the cable. and another thting there is a slight kink in my cable , i am hoping this is ok becasue i dont feel like buying new cables and last thing the plastic guide type deal on the pump arm seems to have a little wear, one pull on the throttle and the piece pull out a little bit should i repleace or no, and how to replace because i try popping it out but it didnt want to come out so help is much appreciated

Well if im understanding you right, you should be able to pull the motot out w/out removing the pump, then once engine is out you can take it off, itll be way easier. The cable itself should just slide out if i remember correctly.
I just changed my pump to install PERC and it was pretty simple to get the old out and new one in. Aside from trying to rebolt the pump, bottom bolt was a b!tch.
As for the rest, your gonna have to better explain it, or take some pics of what your talkin about

ok lemme try again, i am pulling my motor and what do i do about the oil pump do i remove cable or what, and as for the black peice i speak of, it sitso n the pump arm and holds the cable and it seems to be loose(like it can move left and right a little bit) and there is a slight kink in the oil cable before the arm but i think that ill be fine with that

if your gonna take the whole motor out, id just get the cable off and worry about the pump once its out of the motor. Make sure to mark which oil goes where tho. The cable if i remember comes out similar to like the carbs slides one way then pops out...Doubt any minor kink would give you a problem, especailly if its closer to pump lever, because thatll never go anyplace...If im thinking of the same black piece i dont think its really much more than a bushing, and woundnt worry bout about that... Just my 2cents..

mattys4888, It's easy, Just loosen and remove the front cable jamb nut and let it hang loose on the cable. Then pull the cable out of the adjuster bracket and rotate the black cable end untill the cable lines up with the slot on the pump arm. it should come right off.

Tip: The jam nut is a lock nut and you need to hold the rear nut steady in order to get enough room to turn the front jam nut. I use a needle nose vise grip on the rear nut for this. Make sure you take note of how much thread is exposed past the jamb nut for re-adjustment. Most of the 600s I've seen is about 3/16 inch.
