I have a chance to buy a really sweet 1990 Switzer SS-22 from a guy at work for $15K. I am looking to buy a newer/bigger boat. I currently have a 1987 20' Chaparral. I was looking for something a little newer but this boat is in mint condition and the motor only has about 100 hrs on it. (GM Vortec 350-330HP) The hull is all hand laid, the boat was made to order and cost $36K new in 1990. If anyone could give me any info/advice on Switzers it would be aprreciated.
Thanks-The Hooligan

hooligan,
I did a little checking for ya, know someone who is very much into the performance boats (his current boat is a 35ft cigarette with twin 550 rotax's). He said that the Switzer's are a better than average boat, his preference in that size would be a baja. In the small chop/wake (2-3ft) boat will be ok, but in the bigger stuff better hang on. Says that the price is a little high even for the amount of hours.

MikeF7-thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. I just bought the boat this morning. I managed to get the guy to come down on the price a little. It is going to be a lake boat and we don't go out in too much bad stuff. (I had read the same thing-pretty fast straight line boat but not real good in the rough stuff and has some chine walk in the corners). Gotta love those 4" thru hulls though!!
Thanks again.
