If you have the exact right conditions the 400 should top out around 80 mph. My daughters 94 trail 488 fan will top out between 75 and 80 on the speedo and I know the 400 has a little bit more. Riley

'89 Indy 400 puts out 62hp for its time - how fast will it go, I remembered when the sled used to belong to my buddy about 10 years ago - I took her out on the lake and if my memory serves me correctly, I had her up above 100mph on speedo. Remember guys, this is a speedo which isnt quite accurate so Im willing to bet, it would be close to 80mph on radar. This sled was sold to a buddy's friend which he blew it up - I ended up buying it and rebuilt the whole motor - sold it to my another buddy and he had it for 4 or 5 years - ran perfectly. I ended up back again after he traded me for '98 XC7 he wanted, plus cash. I rode that sled last winter and now, I just sold it to a buddy of mine who used to work with me. Who knows, I may get it back again in a few years. motoneige31.gif

i still have a polaris 400 indy 88', and i got it up to 93 mph a couple years ago on a straightaway groomed trail. these were perfect conditions. as for the horsepower i dont know but that thing rips for an 88 indy

I had a 1991 Indy 400....it would run 95mph on the speedo in perfect conditions, probably closer to 85mph actual. It would also go 160 miles on a tank of gas, great little sled!
