Wondering if anyone has done this upgrade ? I just got mine all together and when looking up under the tunnel I see that the track is slightly hitting the tunnel protecter/heat exchanger just where the track starts to make the turn at the driver. Has anyone noticed this and what did you do to notch it ?

I upgraded mine two years ago with no problems at all, I run it about 2 inches loose also. You're gonna like that track

what about 1-1/2" i want one but can't find a good one except the 14" wide which seems to me to defeat the purpose. anyone have problems with the 14 wide? good bad of the 1.5"?

I had a 14" wide 1.5" track on my '04 pro xr 440 and it hit the front exchanger when I would brake quickly. For some reason when I accelerated it would not hit, but when I braked it rode up over drivers and would hit. I made exchanger guards out of 1" square aluminum tubing from home depot and solved problem. At the time I was having the problem I posted on here about it and guys running regular pro x's did not have a problem running 1.5" tracks.

One more thing. I have the standard Poo 1.25" track on my pro x2 and love it. After beating it for 1400 miles this winter it held up real well, not a single torn lug. On the flip side I rode with ProX16 on here and he has ripsaw on his pro x. Seems to have slightly softer lugs then my track and I know he tore at least a few lugs off. Softer lugs might be better on hardpack if you don't stud sled, but if its studded I'd go with a harder compound that is more durable.
The 14" wide 1.5" on my 440 was one of those kimpex X-trail tracks. Generally I thought kimpex was garbage, but that track was awesome!!!! Had very stiff lugs in center and softer lugs on edges. Very nice track on trail and off. That track went through an entire sno-x season and a few hundred miles of riding by me and did not have a single torn lug.

The 1.375"x14" that comes stock with the 2004 Pro XR 800 are junk.I went through two of these tracks and they delaminated all the outside lugs. There to soft of a compound, but if you purchase a Camoplast track direct, either a 1.375"x14" or 1.5"x14" the tracks are a better compound.Polaris does get their tracks from Comoplast, but the quality isn't there if you purchase through them(Polaris). The 1.25"x15" ripsaw is a good track,it works good in deep snow(hole shots) and won't make your top end suffer as bad as a 1.5" lug track. :div20:

I have the ripsaw in a 136 on my prox, and like nhrev said i tore some lugs off that track, but i am hard on tracks in general. I think its from riding on one ski to often. I tore almost all the lugs on the left side of the stock .91 inch track on an 02 xc also, so the fact i have some torn on the ripsaw is probably because of me.

Go with the ripsaw 1.25" you won't be sorry, money well spent. I did about 2500 hard miles with out any ripped lugs. Just pay attention where and when your spinning the track. Stumps, rocks, bare spots will cost you $ with any track. :div20:
