Not sure if it will need a resto, but I am on a sled hunt for my very first sled, a 1977 Cat Lynx 295. When my dad sold it with 7000+ miles, the only things we replaced were carbites and a windscreen that our dog cracked.

Well it's not a sled but last winter I restored a 72 ski-boose, I know where the mate is so I think I will buy it and restore it also.

Working on a basket case 73 Panther 440. The previous owner took most of it apart. Just finished rebuilding the engine and carb. Waiting for new points and praying it runs.

Next is polishing up the tunnel and belly pan. Hood is in OK shape for now.

I'm working on a 74 Thnunderjet :div20: that I rescued form a fifteen year stay in a chicken coop. These things were unbeleivably small and light, with short aluminum skis that were very fragile. Anyone know of a replacement track for one of these? dunno.gif

76 Cross Country Cat is next in line. I have 2 to put into 1. :beerchug:
Speedermurdoch
1959 Flexible Flyer. Had a run in last year that involved the sled, 4 Gennessee Cream Ales, and the back bumper/tailpipe of a Ford Taurus wagon. I'm okay, other than a circular mark on my head that looks deceptively like the Taurus exhaust pipe. I bent up a runner as well....

Anyone have pics of what they are trying to restore?here are mine

First vintage project is to finish the scorpion. I just need to assemble it. I have finished gelcoating the hood, and painting the tunnel. This is a one of a kind sled from what I can tell. Silver is the correct and original color. It has been in the family since 69, and my first sled that I helped partially distroy :div20:

It is based on a 69 Mach 1 chassis, with a 68 297 Mach II engine/clutch, with chrome skis, licensed as a 70. Basically a R & D machine that was given away in Crosby MN.
krellheat
That sled is going to look awesome when you are done with it NHSledder. Keep us posted.

Krellheat,
Thanks for the kind words.

I have just started a website with some of my projects listed with some step by step procedures, including the gelcoating of this hood.

My Webpage

More items will be added in the next few weeks. Just posted what is up presently this last week.
krellheat
That Kat Kutter sure looks nice. The silver color is much better looking on that sled you are restoring.
krellheat
Website looks good too.

My dad wants a thunderjet, im going to try and find him one next winter. Currently we have his 1973(i think) SST Sno-Jet. It also has 340 decals on it, however it is a 440 with race port and polish, a trued and welded crank, clutching and a bit more. I was told in its day it only lost one race to a Polaris Tx 500, other than that it took out everything from Deere split fires to a polaris 440 set up by racers edge in full race set up with twin pipes and extensive motor work.

So thats this summers vintage project, a seal is gone on the sno-jet so we would like to rebuild it and get it ready for vintage races, rides and shows next year. Doubt well have time for it but we also have a 1969 daulphin at my grandparents farm that needs minor work to be trail ready again :div20:

Were restoring a 1975 ski-doo olympique . and custom restoring my 1979 ski-doo OLYMPIQUE
I got 3 inches of the frame cut off of the back.
I'm doing it up like its a summit
I'm getting the seat chopped so i can fit a 5 gallon gas jug on the back for thoes long trips.
the skis are orange, the whole suspension is orange, front & rear bunper is orange, and the front shocks are orange. the whole chasse is gloss black and my hood is gloss black with reflective orange orange and yellow decals.
Snowcrash
early 70's cheetah 440 and TNT 500.

I'm working on picking up the cheetah in a couple weeks and I need a part to put the tnt back together before I ship it to my uncles house at the lake.

Out at the farm I also have a late 70's Sno-Jet 340 that needs a track and a 1980 Trail Cat that needs TLC.

Before these I had a mid 70's TNT 295 single. That's what I got stuck with after I crashed the old sno-jet into a shored boat lift.

Do you plan on keeping the old engine out of the 79 olyimpique in there ...shell be a slow tank if ya do lol
sleddyeddy
u should put a 500 fan at least in there, a liquid would be best but will require more work, heat exchanges antfreeze container mounts, lines etc.. thet 340 will be slow and underpowered
