Looking for outfitters in eastern ontario area. No further north than north bay. I am looking for places that have a supper, breakfast deal. I take wifey for 2-3 days just after christmas. Looking for a cozy, relaxing place. Any ideas or experiences. I am trying to stay away from the hotel thing.

The first one that comes to mind for me is spectacle lake lodge. It is just off of the Top B trail between Madawaska and Barry's Bay. They have their own trail into the resort. I don't have any info. on them and the deals, but they proabably have a web site if you search for it. Martinwood resort is another one that is further west. (west of lake st. peter just off of E-109 by
Benoir lake). They are a bit more of a hotel like resort, but very nice and once again a trail to their front door. I'm not sure where you're coming from but both places have great trails surrounding them. Spectacle lake lodge is probably the nicer of the two resorts, but martin wood has better trails. I'd say either way you can't loose.

I hear Bear trail inn is good too. Pricey but good.

Pine Lodge. About 1.5 hours south of the first post. This is in the "Muskoka" area, so good restaurants, etc.

Charlie and his wife have run it since I first started going (20 years ago). Lots of Americans visit. We're often outnumbered by US riders 3-1 when we stay.
