I was recently considering purchasing a new 2006 Apex GT in the spring order until I did some homework and found out that there is a $2000 CDN price gap between the Canadian Price and the US price!
To rub that in my face even more, when I attended the Manufacture Show here in Winnipeg and confronted the Yamaha Canada Rep with the question "Could you explain the 2K price differential?" the response was a swift and short "Nope!". He could not explain, nor did he make any effort too.
Another Piss off was the Yamaha bucks! We get a measly $750 CDN while the US gets almost $975 CDN. That's $225 difference and would almost cover the cost of a jacket or nice helmet.
Here is the breakdown:
Sled US | MSRP US | Yamaha Bucks |Total Value USD |Total Value CDN 0.822Exch
Apex GT | 10,899__| 800_________ | 10,099_______ | 12,283.32
Sled CDN|CDN MSRP|CDN Yamaha Bucks|Total Value CDN |Difference
Apex GT_| 14,999_ | 750____________ | 14,249_______ | 1,965.68
I love the Yamaha Sled but I seriously question the business integrity of Yamaha Canada. I'm No longer buying an Apex...at least not in Canada.

I think with the currency where it is today, it makes more sense for you guys in Canada to buy in the U.S. now, the question is do you pay for the machine now or wait till the fall to see if your loonie gets stronger

.
I don't know why you guys are getting fucked on the Yamaha dollars you should get more, I get $1.22 on the conversion now. If I was Canadian I'd be insulted by what Yamaha's doing.
don't go buy a mach z $2,466 more :augen41:

Buy North American products only, feel sorry for consumers that buy Japanese, they get
hosed. Its also nice to keep the jobs and money here also.

Many factors are in play here, first you must convert the yen to both the Canadian and U.S. dollar at the time the price point was established, also msrp means nothing, who pays that. Five years ago it was far better to buy here due to the weak dollar, why not compare the price in sweden as well. Bottom line, they are not ripping Canadians off, they are pricing acording to acceptable corporate profit within current market conditions.

One question on that note about the Yamaha price difference-if you purchase this sled in the US will you get warranty coverage once brought over to Canada?? I bought a Bombardier Renegade last year in Michigan because of the savings ( 2,000) and we do have warranty coverage in Canada. Not sure what its like in Manitoba but when brought across into Ontario you have a 182.00 inspection fee to make sure it complies with the Canadian Motor Vehicle standards- which the Bombardier does.

I have been told that each country has its own distributer and they set there own price. Warrenties will not cross the border. You must pay and submitt to Yamaha distributer that handled the sled.

We do get ripped off ! Not only on new machines but parts as well. I just ordered a SXViper Engine Torque Limiter Kit for $89.00 canadian and in the states they retail for $40.00 bucks.

i have been thinking of this and i thinks it total bs that we get hosed on everything we buy compared to our american counter parts like i have seen 06 firecats on ebay brand new selling for 6500 us like where could you find a deal like that in canada i have brought cars over here form the us and the fees are minimal you pay taxes and some other small charges i just dont understand it. My dad has a buisness and we buy lots of product form the us and bring it in duties are minimal i think i should get into the stealarship buisness when i get older shit we have 20% markup on stuff and make money whats the markup on sled parts anyone know?????

Well, Cat isn't a whole lot different when you pencil it out. It's a cash grab for the companies selling into Canada. Dealers within an hour of the border are going to have a pretty tough time of it.

you should also be thinking WHY is the 2-Stroke Sled that is made right here in Canada being sold for the same price of the 4-Stroke Sled being shipped over from Japan.
Someone is making a shit load of cash... and it is not Yamaha.
