Just wanted to thank everyone for a great year and thanks for all the great questions. I think its important to have access to Law Enforcement and to be able to ask questions about Snowmobiling and Laws in each State. We will continue to post here next year and will bring up any important issues regarding changes to the Snowmobile Law.............

Thanks Again

Law Dawg - I thank you too.

I haven't seen your posts before but I'm guessing you are environmental law enforcement? If so, you get paid to do, full time, what most of us can only do on weekends... you will probably enjoy the summer season on a jet ski or small high-powered boat, in waters restricted to most people. Some guys have the best jobs I guess! dunno.gif

Thanks for posting, man :div20:

Thanks.... I would encourage you to help with some of the questions that get posted here... Would be great if we had a Law Enforcement person from each state that has snowmobiles to get the correct answers..... Stay safe.....

Yes and thanks for your advice/comments.

Can you advise me of the worse case scenario of performing an open water crossing (illegally) across a 1/2 mile wide, public, lake?

I will pay the 120 for a fine......but if the sled goes down, there are concerns with the IF&W, fines for pollution, contamination, etc-

I could have the sled out of the lake within an hour as long as it didnt end up trapped beneath some widowmakers! I am anxious to get some good video on this new camera...we have a 27 foot cuddy and 7 people to pull on a rope if need be.... Wow1.gif I know the legalities vary from state to state but what would it be for yours? :div20:

Sure, I will be bashed here for considering it, hope there are others who may just say "that would be some cool footage". :no_bashing:

Hmmmmmmmmmm

My advice ???? for the cost of getting a ticket, having your sled impounded, Civil Fines, Enviromental fines, Towing Fines, Name in the papers from the courts, Court Fines, Possible Jail fines.... I would just Rent a jet ski, close your eyes and pretend its your sled ..... lol

Cool. I went on a ride-along with an officer and his dog one night in Vancouver. Not sure who was crazier, the cop or the hound...it was pretty exciting. The highlight was busting up an illegal rave, where at one point I was in a room with a dozen bad dudes, three cops and a dog - and pretty certain the dog and I were the only ones without a gun. Near the end of the shift the dog tried to bite me at which point his handler casually offered "I believe he's had enough of you"
