I have a stock 2003 800 polaris rmk 144" and I weight 230lbs. I ride 60-70% boondock 40-30% trail. I was thinking of extending my track length for Colorado boondocking, Should I? I was thinking 156". What do you think 151", 156", 159"? I was told at 151" rail extensions are fine, and at 156" I should be ok to extend if i am not jumping large distance. (I'm not) At 159" I need to get new rails, Is this accurate? On a scale of 1 - 10 I am a 5 as a mechanic, can I do the conversion myself? Is it better to convert or upgrade to different sled. Please give advice on what you would do, use, and where to get products? Thank You

well if the 141 isnt cuttin it for ya i would have to say go with a 151. the longer that you go the harder it will be to weave in and out of the trees. The rail extensions and tunnel estensions arent hard to do. lots of riveting to do.

I'd say 151 will do ya! Any longer then that and it will just ruin your trail riding. Adding the extentions is easy, putting on a new track is harder. What size lugs does you 144 have? A bigger lug may take care of your problem.

I went from a 144 to 151. I weight about 290 and I noticed a lot more floatation in the deep powder and I can boondock at slower speeds and not get get stuck. It didn't sacrafice my turning radius that much either. I would suggest getting 10" carbides, they really help turn the longer sled on the trails. Extending the sled in pretty easy, pretty much just bolts and rivets. I would suggest using an air rivet gun, especially if you have alot of rivets.

my dads 151 was even pretty easy for me to weave in and out of the trees with (5'7" 120lbs) so should be nothin for you. The longer you get its just going to make it harder to get unstuck. I would say get it from slp, they come with everything but the track, cost is about $175 for the extention and stuff site is

I'm assuming your rails are already tipped. I would go straight to the 156 and just get that little extra. If the 144 isn't big enough for you the 151 would probably be borderline and with tipped rails your not going to notice the extra length other then in deep snow and with your size it shouldn't matter much atleast from my experience 6ft 240#s. Just my opinion though.

i would agree with redf7 there is not enough diff in the 144 and 151 but you will love the 156
my buddy just stretch his 02 144 to 159 and we did it in a weekend he bought rail extensions and everything was pretty simple as long as you can read a tape
the stretch did not make much differance in handling on the trails but traction on and off trail is great
