I know there are several different manufacturers of these, and I want to know which one offers the most protection.
Thanks

Well my friends race and they all wear tekvests (the racer version). Last weekend one of them has has mxzx roll over on top of him pretty hard. Not one scratch or bruise so I guess it worked.
Myself I wear the trail version tekvest and haven't really needed it to come in handy (knock on wood). Had one minor incident in my yard hitting some jumps...cases one and too the handle bars to the ribs. Didn't feel a thing. But comparing them to other brands...couldn't tell you. I can tell you that tekvests work wonders though.

I have the racer version of the Tek-Vest and I am a believer now.
2 yrs ago when I bought it my buddys all laughed and made fun of me for wearing it , I said screw you guys I have 2 kids at home and a wife that need me.
So about a week later we went to a neighboring town to see some friends and on the way home it payed for its self a hundred times over.
The little rubber mushroom that the polaris exhaust sits on on top of the shock tower after the bend in the exhaust, the spring that holds the exhaust down on the rubber broke and the rubber mushroom jumped out and wedged its self in the steering linkage. Next thing I know is I cant steer and I slide off the road going about 50-60 WHAM take a tree branch to the chest, yanked me off the sled, knocked the air out of me. Buddy rides up laughing and says you gotta quit playing in the trees. I get my breath back and look around only to find out that I hit the tree branch so hard that my boots were still in my sled just like I was sitting there. I'm sure that if i hadn't been wearing the Tek-Vest I would have at least broke some ribs or worse. IMO they are worth every penny.

It saved my shoulder and collar bone in an accident last year. I got up and walked away with only a couple of bruises. www.tekrider.com :div20:

I wear a Super-Sport Tekvest which is the trail model. I like it, it helps the back while riding and every once and a while it helps when I nail the bars. Wont ride without it.

Here is my Pro-lite.

This is the model racers wear. Lots of protection, even has tailbone and lots of kidney and upper shoulder protection. I feel vulnerable when I don't wear it.

I bought one this year and wear it all the time. I am convinced from readling others' experiences, in many forums, that this is the cheapest insurance you can buy Medical and Life all combined into one.
I wont ride without my TekVest.

I bought a TekVest a couple years ago cause my riding buddy told me I needed one. (and he owned one and said it was his "life saver")
I agree since owning it when you don't wear it even one time you feel vulnerable to a accident. Not that it makes you feel like Superman it just a piece of mind knowing that you stand of chance of going home instead of to a hospital in case of a accident. These should be required safety protection just like seat belts are in a car. Mine was $200. And it's the best 200 I've ever spent on snowmobiling.

I ride with a Super Sport Tek Vest as well. Took a bad spill a couple of years ago........Came off the sled at over 70 MPH and went into pretty wicked tumble..........Broke my wrist, but I'm still convinced to this day it would have been worse if I had not been wearing a Tek Vest.

I just got a super sport , won it at the Novi show in the Doo Talk drawing. I broke my ribs twice in the last two years. I am definetly wearing it even if the odds are I will never hit anything again . Steve Brand of Tekrider told me these vests help the healing process a bit with support and heat. If you don't ride with one I can tell you from experience broken ribs hurt more than any other thing I have busted. Thanks again to Tekrider and Doo Talk for the vest . Sorry for the shameless plug, its the least I can do for the free vest.

About 5 years ago I bought one when my son was born. Everybody in the family that rides with us called it a "fag vest", anyhow, two weeks later, my sister-in-law who was the "fag vest" name inventor wrecked her sled and lost her kidney and spleen when she rear ended her husband and hooked the handle bars :frech32: . Guess what? Now everybody wears that same "fag vest"! Best money I've ever spent!
Thanks Fag vest!

Been riding with the Trail version for 3 years, thanks goodness I don't have a story to tell about the benefits but they are bombproof and well worth the $$$$ if anyting happens. Just like a good helmet, don't go cheap it is your noodle....

I've got the racer version tek-vest. Very good protection! Good shoulder, chest, back coverage also down to the biceps.

I have the Super Sport Model which I just sold and will be picking up either a Trail Pro or a Freestyle as they have less insulation for thoose warm Mtn riding days. Anyway no serious crashes but i've hit the bars hard a few times and you don't feel it so must be working. After only a half a ride it felt very natural and don't even notice its there anymore. I have read the slip over models offer more front protection then the zip up models but not sure how much really.
IMO everyone refers to them as tekvests so they must be the best.

bought a cheaper version at the snow show this year. Called Saf-Jac. Only cost $100 for a large but supposed to be race legal and just as good, just not as stylish as tek vest. Worn it once and won't ride without it anymore. Hopefully I'll never have to find out if it works. He doesn't have a web site, but the number on the jacket is 920 756 3268. Konop LLC is the company

They are awesome. I can ride in long sleeve tee shirt now because of the warmth and they help with your posture due to not allowing you to slouch. I had a super sport but didn't like the idea of a ski in the chest through the zipper so i sold it to my buddy and got the trail pro more frontal protection ( no zipper, pull over ) my buddys said the same thing about fag vest sissy vest now they all have them. Thank god none of us has had to "use" tham yet. Best $275 i've spent..

IMO, they are as important as a helmet. I have had the supersport for 7 years now wiith the add on arm protection. Gotta love them plus you can layer nicely.
As far as accidents I took a 70 mph endo and walked away, but drastically my buddy died three years ago after hitting a tree and he probably would have lived had he worn a tekvest.

I got one for Christmas last year. It was that or a GPS (which I got this past X-mas). My wife said she would rather I got a little lost than alot hurt. I haven't had to "use it but I ride with it on all the time now. It is a bit awkward at first but you won't even notice it after a couple of rides, plus the help to keep you warmer too !!

I am putting together a group buy for the Freestyle Tek Vest, direct from the factory. I made a new thread in the general snowmobiling forum. The freestyle Tek Vest is a light weight vest that offers great protection with out the bulk. Please check out the other thread for more info but the deal I have worked out with Rita at Tek Rider is....
If we as a group buy 1-5 vests they are 159.99 plus 20 shipping.
If we as a group buy 6-10 vests they are 139.99 plus 20 shiping.
Tek Rider is the factory for the Tek Vests. The last group order we were able to purchase the vests for 139.99 plus shipping.
If you still want a Tek Vest call Rita at Tek Rider and tell her you are part of the Suziedoo sledfreak group buy.
PM me if you need more information.

Suzie, Thanks for looking out for us.....any deals on the other vest Tek makes?
I had another HCS member ask the same question. If you want a different model please call Rita at Tek Rider tell her you are part of the Suziedoo/Sledfreak group buy and ask her what is the best price she can offer on the model you want.
The freestyle Tek Vest is perfect for the average rider so I made the deal for that vest. I didnt make a deal for any other vest cuz I was worried I would not have enough response for any other style vest. I put together a large group order last time, I am sure Rita will be more than happy to discount a different type of vest as part of this group order.
Please let me know what she says.

I am looking to wrap up the group deal no later than 2-23-07. The snow doesnt last very long and we want to get the vests here while we can still use them. If we can wrap this up sooner that would be better for everyone. If you want one get your order into Rita. If the ordering slows down before next friday we will close it out so she can ship. Sound good?
I just got word from Rita, if you want a different vest she will discount a different model 30%. Most other models are higher priced so please call Rita and talk with her if you want a different model.

Too bad I missed this deal! I just bought 2 Super-Sports for me and my 22 year old son, and 2 Youth SX's for my younger kids from Dennis Kirk. Glad to have them. I couldn't stand the thought of someone getting hurt because I was too cheap to buy these.

You will forget you even have it on.
It takes a second to get ripped off your sled and you dont have to be riding like an A$$ to fly off your sled. No one plans to fly off their sled but you can get seriously hurt when you do. This is a small investment in your safety.
$139.99 plus $20 shipping for the freestyle vest or 30% off any other style.

I am sure we will all be doing some riding this weekend. Look around and see if you notice anyone wearing a Tek Vest and ask them what they think of it. Talk to your buds and see what they think of wearing a Tek Vest.
This is a small investment in your safety. The group order is gonna close no later than 2/23/07 so dont wait...... Call Rita and place your order.

I have a freestyle with the arm guards/shoulder pads. It's way better than my Super Sport for lightness and less bulk. I wear is on my sled and on my mx bike. Suziedoo, props to you for organizing the group buy. I do it for the local kids racing org and it helps instill safety on the track. For those that don't buy now, Rita and Steve usually have great deals at haydays every year.

Well worth the money. I had a supersport and now a trail pro. Out riding in the big horns I was going across a meadow about 35 or so and caught a log. I hit and went over the bars and then sled drove over me and didn't feel a thing other then were the paddle track grabbed my leg.
