Has anybody seen on polaris's website that they claim the 600 HO motor is 2006 EPA compliant when you click on the exhaust valves?

Does this mean that it will be more fuel efficient by not sending out as much raw fuel out the pipe?

I owned a 02 600 XCSP and the mileage was terrrible. The same if not worse than my 04 700 XCSP. Has anybody out there heard if these engine are more efficient?

I like they looks and reports I have heard about the new chassis but fuel efficiency is a concern in todays economy.

I would hope the 600 would get better gas mileage....

another interesting note.... Snow Goer said the 900 Fusion meets the 2010 epa emissions whatever.... anyone know anything about this??

(sorry about the gay post)
polaris9500
why wouldnt fusion 900 the 06 model meet emissions for 2010 the ski doo dual injector system does.

The Polaris factory rep. I talked to at the Sno-Deo in Coleman State Park in New Hampshire said the 600HO should get 14mpg. Thats pretty good for a non-SDI engine. And yes it does meet 2006 EPA. Ski-Doo's 800HO isn't SDI and it passes 2006EPA.

I don't think your going to see 14 mpg unless you ride like an old lady. I'd say 10-12, but who knows.

The 06 motor is totally different then the motor in your old XC. The sled and chassis is also much better. Fuel mileage on sled is realative to riding style. The 06 600 HO is 06 compliant. It is carbed in lieu of injection for the racers to be able to mod it without all the electronics involved with the injection system. Fuel milage will be in the 10-14 mpg range at minimum depending on your style of riding!!! This sled is the real deal and you will be thrilled with its performance !!!

polarisguru is correct.

In addition, the '06 700 & 900 do meet the 2010 EPA emissions standards.

The '06 750cc Four Stroke Turbo (FST) and Four Stroke (FS) meet the proposed 2012 EPA emissions standards. The non-turbocharged FS meet the Best Available Technology criteria for use in Yellowstone Park.

Had an '06 600 HO Fusion to ride last Friday, it was a kick!

Sled was fast and quick, rode well, handled well, up to 85 mph on a fairly hard packed lake, well-tuned stock 800's could not get by it. This 600 HO, had been properly jetted, some of the demo models were not.

I've had three 600s over the last decade. Oddly enough, the one with the most horsepower is the one that has gotten the best mileage:

1995 XLT = 13 mpg
1998 XC 600 = 10 mpg (sometimes 12 if conditions were right)
2003 Pro-X 600 = 14.5 mpg (factory jetting)

My riding friends have high-performance sleds -- 2004 F-7, 2003 REV HO, 2005 REV HO, 2002 XC700, 2003 Pro-X 800 -- so I can't exactly "ride like an old lady" if I want to continue riding with them. The guy on the XC700 gets better mileage than I do, and he's the fastest rider in the group. The king of the MPG war is the REV SDI, which gets 18-19 consistently.

Last night my Pro-X used 3.2 gallons of gas in 48 miles of fast riding. Not bad...

I think the 600HO will definitely get better mileage.

My 03 F7 gets 14 mpgs on straighter trails....12 at worst. If you DON'T ride it like an old lady you are in the trees.

I know my bud's 01 and 02 poo 600's get 10 at best....he's a bigtime throttle pumper though.

I hope it does get good fuel mileage. And some guys probably will get 14 mpg. I get about 8 mpg with my 700 pro x with tempaflow. Where some guys claim they get 11-12mpg same sled. I guess I use the throttle more. I ride with guys who run F7's efi and they get about 9-10.

Are you stuck with premium or can you use regular on the 600HO? Does it have the prem/reg key switch again?

I've read in Snow Goer that you have to use premium with the FST. :cn:

Cats speedo's are dead nuts on.....So mileage is realistic......Considering most regluar speedo's are off 10mph this mileage thing is very skewed !!

That's true, if I used a Yami speedo I think my F7 could pull 20 mpg's :smilielol:

GPS is DEAD on with my F5 and F7 speedos.

I do think that new engine will be sweet. Same as the new EFI2 on the F6. The 600 class will be HOT HOT HOT.

The speedo might be dead nuts, but as far as mileage goes if your spinning your track it will still be off. Carry a gps with you and ride 200 miles and see the difference on any sled. Ride with 2 guys on cats that both have gps and they always show more miles then the gps.

I guess you don't ever spin your track then.

Actually I do use GPS.....100 mile ride GPS and speedo are within one mile. One mile of spinning is alot.

Get real, a carb 600 getting 14 mpg or more???????
Only 4 strokes and SDI do that good.
FUSION is a gas pig.
ProPolaris
And how many miles do you have on your '06 600 HO Fusion to make that claim?

I ride with a guy who has an 01 XC 600 with 4500 miles on. He gets 15-16 mpg's everyday I've been with him, either fast tour or just out ripping.

Email Saquenay Bill on this forum. He has a Ski Doo GSX SS500. Basically a 600 cc liquid cooled, carbed engine. He gets 17 mpg!! Blows away 4 strokers. Sure he rides easy, but it goes to show how good you can get out of a carbed 2 stroker if you ride it right.

The 600HO has DET, it and the FST can run on regular gas.

I have ridden with conservative riders on carefully jetted 800 VES XC SP, that were getting mileage in the higher teens, identical fuel usage on week long saddlebag trips, with the same type rider on an RX-1.
