Welcome to the "safety forum". I've been thinking about something like this for a while now..what with all the accidents and all. This is a place where we can all learn about accident prevention, and any questions about law enforcement, etc. Hope we can all gain from it. Thanks. luxhello.gif

Good Idea! Lets see if we can get some links to state by state accident reports. Maybe a little review of same would be beneficial and create discussion. I`m sorry I don`t know how to post a link but you can get to michigans by going to www.michigan.gov/dnr-then go to site map then law enforcement. Someone feel free to give a more direct route.

your link is now clickable

Rob....

Thanks for starting this.... Maybe if enough interest we can have a state by state posting area so it will be beneficial to those riding in that particular state...

There are several other Officers, Deputies, and im sure Troopers who will contribute to this area. Maybe the EMS Guys and Gals can provide Do's and Dont's when you come up on or are involved in an accident...

FEEL FREE TO ASK QUESTIONS GUYS !!!

This is what I love about this site, Rob you do an awesome job keeping this site several notches above the rest. This forum is a great idea and I am looking forward to using it.

Just a side note, I hope it doesn't turn into a bitchfest like I'm sure it will, you should consider limiting the posts to just questions and answers. You know as well as I do that one person is going to ask about drinking and riding and what the law states and 100 other people are going to respond and give there 2 cents worth of nonsense. I think just like the individual brand forums you should post a note regarding this and let people know that anything short of a question or answer will be deleted. Just my 2 cents!!! :div20:

We don't want this nopityA.gif nor this boxen.gif so lets keep it a :no_bashing: forum!

Hey there...

Here some of the early 2005-2006 safety post from another excellent Michigan issues board...

December 13, 2005
Two Harbor Springs area men were seriously injured when the two snowmobiles they were operating collided north of Harbor Springs late Friday.

Michigan State Police officials identified the injured as Scott Truman, 38, and Kerry Proctor, 26. The men were listed in fair and good condition respectively at Northern Michigan Hospital today, Tuesday.

According to police the crash happened at about 8:15 p.m. on Stutsmanville Road west of Beacon Hill Road in Emmet County's Friendship Township. Police said Truman was traveling eastbound on Stutsmanville Road and Proctor was traveling westbound on the same road, both on the north shoulder of the road. The two met near the crest of a hill and were unable to avoid a collision.

Both men were thrown from their snowmobiles in the crash. Both were wearing helmets and both were transported to Northern Michigan Hospital by Allied EMS.

The crash remains under investigation.

And so it begins !

From the Soo Evening News

NEWBERRY - Michigan State Police from the Newberry Post have made one arrest following an early morning snowmobile accident on Railroad Street in Seney Township.

According to reports, Christopher J. Dirla, 39, of Bay City was a passenger on an eastbound sled when he either jumped or fell from the machine. A second machine then struck him, before it fled into the night.

Dirla was transported to Helen Newberry Joy Hospital and then onto Marquette for treatment of a broken pelvis among other injuries.

The driver of the second sled - a 27-year-old Springport man - was later arrested at a nearby cabin on charges of operating while intoxicated, and failure to stop and identify. The name of the driver is not being released at this time, pending arraignment on the aforementioned charges.
