you see that stuff, and it makes you just shake your head. unbelieveable. is this country socialist? NO! so why do people think they can tell others what do do with their property? this is what adjitates (sp) me.

There's a lot more to the story, just so you know. Stuff you will never see in the paper.

can you fill us in...

I know this looks bad, but it seems these people have a problem with anyone on their land.

And guess what....yup the Police don't do a thing.

There are some people like that in my area. They bought a house with 100 plus acres, near farmland that has been hiked, biked, hunted, and used by many people{who also share their land}that now have put up barbed wire and posted signs every 50 ft. Their reason being is that "this is our land and we don"t want anyone on it for any reason".This was all done before this landowner even spent their one weekend a month up here!Yet they have no problem hopping on their sleds to access VAST trails and use lands of their resident neighbors. It"s too bad some act like this, barring any good reason, but it's their right I guess. Does this sound like the situation Xeena?

That's just unbelievable. Can't believe there are people like that. Can't imagine what non snowmobilers think when they read that.

I have no idea what the actual situation is. I was just reading between the lines of the article.

Let's just say, sometimes there are landowners you just need to go around. They will not be happy with the trail on their land. The letter to the editor in the Caledonian Record is a different story, those people have a legitimate beef.

I don't believe the story about the vandals. The damage happened ~7:00 AM on a Friday according to them. Either some locals we ticked off, or someone went out of their way to perpetrate this. This is not a group visiting VT snowmobliling that decided to tear up the trail. At 7:00AM, most people are sleeping and the out of staters haven't even arrived yet.

The following is just MY opinion:

This individual and his girlfriend have used up their 15 minutes of fame. The only reason he has harped on sledders is because he gets a reaction. His goal is to get VAST to pay for alleged(sic) damage. I have no use for this clown and were it within my power I would buy enough land around him to lock him and his squeeze in for life. The complaining landowner has a trail that crosses about 100 feet of his property. From the sounds of his endless whining, you would think he had several miles of trail on his land.
Just to prove how lame this story is, he used the same basic line as appeared in another story about a Burke couple that were threatened by snowmobilers a few months back. m2c.gif

the caledonian has been pretty full of bad press for us lately (not to blame them, really). but apparently with a varying degree of legitimacy. its just too bad something like that had to be the day's top headline, eh?
