Well, I took my wife on her first trip to the NEK this past weekend. Arrived at the Clyde River Hotel at about 10:30, got dressed and headed out south down 142 toward the power lines. Trails were in fantastic condition for such late morning and we hardly passed anyone. We got down to 102 and headed north until we got to the junction with 98 heading south toward maidstone. This was my first tour down toward maidstone and I can tell you it was fantastic.(Great views and flat trails). I somehow missed the junction to go around maidstone lake so we continued back towards 102. We headed south on 102 till the 1 loop. We did the 1 loop and headed back to IP the same way back up 142. Its amazing what can happen to a trail in a few hours as 142 was all whooped out by now. Got back to the pond and went up to the top of the mountain to get a good view of the pond and surrounding views. It was a perfect day with warm temps and clear skies. I wasn't sure if this sport was for her but when she asked on the trip home when we can go again, I knew another sledder was hooked.

RIDE SAFE!

There were hints to a lot of people in IP this weekend but we didn't see many sleds at all on the trails when we headed west on Saturday. Late in the after noon we passed a bazillion sleds on 96 just from 105 to before the split but not many after that. My guess was they were coming back from the SnoDeo.?.

Remember, trail 1 is the trail we don't speak of. It's a secret.

I noticed the camper was gone from the mountain lookout this year. Love that spot. :beerchug:
