i turned my front shock springs on my ifs. its hard to turn back down with my hands to move the springs. is there a tool i can use to make this adjustment easier?

Pretty sure you can use a spanner wrench but its alot slower going than just by hand. Maybe you could try a small oil filter or strap wrench instead. I always did it by hand...a little tough with the preload way up. Try some WD-40 or Pen oil on the threads and try again.. (dont get it on the spring- would just make your hands slip)

may sound dumb, do you have the front end off the ground.

Yes get your front end off the ground unload your springs to adjust either way.
Spray some WD40 or Silicone Lube on shock threds only, they get a bit oxidized after a while.
