I would like to take a ride to janks oasis and i have a few questions first im comming from twin brooks. After i pass the winnie truck and a short ride i will come to the intersection BN30. At that intersection there is a secondary trail 7A which ends at BN31 It looks like a short cut and i was wondering being a secondary trail is it decent to ride? I have heard it is a little tricky to find jenks is this true and if so could you tell me what to look for so i could find it. Any imput would help alot

When you get to the hot dog stand you want to take a right into the woods. When you come to the next stop do not take the trail to the right stay stright you will run that for about 6 miles. As you come down the hill you will cross a bridge there is a sign there that says shortcut to Jenks take it, it,s about 2 miles from there. Tell Peggy Bill said Hello. Great people, I needed a belt last week did not have my wallet with me and as always she let me mail her the money. They are the best. Good Luck BT. :cn:

It is best to skip this 7A shortcut. I believe it is refered to as "dead horse trail" I have never seen it groomed. Just stay on 7 and you will see signs for Jenks. They are nice folks there. DT

The last time I was on the shortcut it was groomed and a great little ride to Jenks. And the last time I was on the powerlines the long way in, (5 miles) it was not groomed. What ever way you go it is worth the trip to see REAL people helping out the sport. Be Well BT. :div20:

The shortcut you are refering to is the one that you come to after coming out of the gravel pit and connects directly to the trail near Jenks. it is not 7A. If you look at the map you will see that the 7A section that he was refering to looks like a shortcut for 7.

We took the Jenks cutoff last week and won't take it again. This was right after an 8" and then 4" snow--there were open streams cutting across the trail and a couple of serious rutts. For now on....main trail.

Let me add that this was our first time riding in Woodford, and we'll be joining the SnoBusters next year. *Fabulous* riding and grooming. You won our support!

the shortcut trail from the gravel pit to jenks is groomed some of the times.
even after a 2' snow storm, there are streams and ruts in the shortcut.
it's not a main trail, it's very narrow, but it's perfectly passable.
my son got thrown off while crossing the stream..

if you need gas within 2 miles, take the shortcut.
if you can wait 7-8 miles, take the main trail.

there are sled cops who ride in that area, and park by the gravel pits.
so obey the VAST laws, and speed limits. they have "marked" sleds, and they ride that entire area. especially on weekends.
