So I follow the instructions and contact the seller directly and he replies with this:

So I responded to the sellers personal email saying I'd rather just come down and check it out and pay him cash. So he responded with this:

I think the best way would be to follow exactly the eBay intructions since we are doing this under their protection.
No problem if you want to come personally, but the problem is that I am in need of money and I am interested in closing the deal these days. I need to make a personal investment, which is very importnat this moment. You know...
I'll be in touch with eBay and you will shortly receive the payment instructions.

If we have a deal, I can ship you the item and I will take care of the shipping costs. I have some facilities at DHL company and it will cost me very cheap to make the delivery . So I've recieved 2 of the same emails for the same transaction with 2 different sellers emails. He wants the payment asap for whatever reason he explains, but wouldnt cash work well too? I'm pretty sure I've recieved emails from ebay saying don't use western union and other such money transfer companies, is this true? Its a steal for the sled, but I'm pretty skeptical about this stuff, what do you guys think?

this sounds like the same thing i have recieved on other items i was outbid on,do not,not ,not send western union to this guy,i was caught up in a scam last year and i'am not proud to say it cost me 3000.00 since i was being scamed in the same way...it turned out to be a person with a dummy address in the states but lived overseas...it can also be a guy that was watching this auction trying to scam you on this,if you can't see it, touch it ,or pick it up in person..there is something wrong...

It is a scam. If you look at the item and then the bids, there is 3 people that bid higher than you. Do you believe that all 3 cannot got through with the deal? Also it says "reserve not met" so that means he didn't sell it. The scammer found this item and picked your name from the bidders list and he probably contacted all the bidders with the same offer.
