If anyone is interested you can see about 60 photos of my trip last week and the weekend before to the Radar Site here (Thanks Terry) http://terry.stanwicks.com/snowmobile/dt/page2.htm . I rode up to the Radar site in a group of nine and we all went to the Spagetti dinner at the East Haven school afterwards. The school had grades K-8 and has a total of 42 students! Seemed like nice kids. We rode 150 miles on saturday and I left for Canada on Sunday, picked up my buddy in Morrisville and drove to Riviere Du Loop, left monday morning, rode 333 miles to Maria and then only went 170 the next day to Perce, Back to Maria the next day going up to Murdochville and across the new trail to La Cash, and on to Maria the long way, 263 miles. Next day on to Rimouski, 1023 miles so far. Next day back to the rig by 11:30, 1135 miles total. It is interesting to see the groomer we found along the way. We were on a side trail (518) east of Three Pistols. This groomer made the best trails I have ever seen in all my time snowmobiling, They were perfectly seamless and hard like cement. It said prototype on the machine. Next time we go we are going to go off the beaten path(5) and explore some of the side trails. The side trails we did take all seemed like they were rarely used and just as big as the main trail. The wind farm in Murdochville was very impressive, they are still installing more towers right now. Not a problem with the sleds although we did spend some time adjusting the suspension on the new Vector. The weather was perfect the whole trip and all the oncomming sleds were on their own side of the trail!! That was nice for a change. Saw mostly REV's and Yamahas up there. Quite a few CAT 660T's too. Other than it was rear engined, had a lot of hydraulic lines and a ton of gauges in the cockpit I don't know much about it, however, 5 years ago I was riding in another area about 40 miles from where I saw this groomer and I saw what appeared to be a similiar but bigger unit passing by in the other direction, I didn't get a real good look at it but I think both sections were powered seperately. I've heard of groomers up there that process the snow somehow but never am able to get any concrete information.

Where and how far is it from the grill(in Groton) to that radar site?

We ended up with about 175 miles for the day and all we did was ride there and back. We ended up taking 51 all the way to burke (52 was closed for some reason), then we took the secondary trails thru east haven over to rte 1. The only bad stuff was a few miles of rte 5 in burke.
