Full Version: Couple of ProX Q's

It's time for me to upgrade my '01 XC600 and I'm not quite sure what route to take. I'm not completely in love with the Fusions and I figure in another year or two they will have the kinks out and a race chassis sled. (plus I have budget constraints) I've considered the rev and right now it's still an option for a used one. I have a few Q's on the Pro-X's and I'm sure someone here can help me out. Are there any major differences between 02/03/04? On the '03's did they come with the PERC standard or was it an option? I thought I read something about an upgrade kit for certain years. I definitely would like a stepped up seat, I am basically a stand up rider even on my '01, is the X2 seat a little lower/wider than the race seat you can buy for the 02/03's? Lastly, are the Walker evans really worth it? I race bikes and I like to beat the snot out of a sled but I also ride with my family a lot and I don't want something brutally harsh, I've heard mixed reports of the adjusters actually doing anything.

Anyone have a good Pro 600 in New England they are planning on getting rid of at the end of the season?

Thanks?

03 Pro X's do not have PERC, you can buy the upgrade thru Polaris
03 has Ryde FX shocks and standard seat

04 Pro X's have PERC
04 Pro X's come with Walker Evans shocks
04 Has the standard seat

04 Pro X2's have PERC, Walker Evans shocks with the step seat.

Other then those differences they are the same minus color.

I have an 03 Pro X 600 and love it, I am ordering a new sled this year only because I want to go to the A arm front suspension.

'04s have Ryde shocks unless you get the X2 or Xr. The '04s also have a different water pump and a redesigned, lighter, more effective cooling system. Horsepower on the '04 600s was increased over the '03s to go along with the more efficient cooling. '04s also had some slight bulkhead or rear suspension mounting changes. The '04s tend to lighten the skis much more than the '02s and '03s did. I had to pull the limiter on my '04 when I long tracked it. Most guys with '03s don't have to do this to keep the skis on the ground. '04s also got straight-rate front suspension springs which means less body roll and ski lift in the tight corners.

Thanks Matt, I thought that was right but had not found the specs, I question that info after I posted.

The prox2 also has the large aluminum drive shaft for reduction in rotating mass, and only the x2 has walkers.

Believe it or not the walkers are set up foe a more plush ride on the 04x2 - to soft imo. I have figured out my x2 set up (recalibrated shocks) and now they work awsome.
My x2700 is for sale, but only because I am injured and shouldnt be riding - as long as its in my garage I cant stay off it...

I saw your ad in the classifieds and took a good long look at it. I was looking for a 600 because that's more than adequate since I mostly ride tight trails. I'm sure it's worth the price your asking with the low miles on it but it's more than I was hoping to spend for a sled I may only have a year or two. If you don't get an offer send me an email and we can talk. I have a camp just outside Utica so we could always work something out regarding shipment.
