i don't belive it!mabye cat will have a 06 that change's my mind, but right now,the apex er is the ticket for me.the quality and price are hard to beat.apex is lighter then my 95 and 99 zrt 800.a 4-stroke?my 03 zr 900 with some clutching and a few other small mod smokes my bud's 05 rx-1 for start to finish, but roll on at 70-80 is pretty close.i feel the 06 with clutching will be nice.i liked all my cat's and the 03 900 is the best of them all.not one problem with it at 5000k.my apex er price is $8799+tax with cover.06 cat?06 zr 900$10,000.00? ,f-8 or 9? $10,00.00?,t-turbo in new chassis ?$12,000.00?.now take a g-note off them price's and the apex still get's the vote.i gonna miss that rip snort out of the hole pull, but i was very impressed with my bud's 05 rx-1 and the 06 will be even better.well what do ya think????

I've been riding all Cats since '93 and have had great reliability with them except my '98 ZR600 motor. I have 7500 miles on my '04 F7 and the only thing that has gone wrong is 1 idler wheel. The most dependable sled I've had. But, I'm ready for a 4-stroke and a change, and right now it looks like an Apex ER also. I think it's going to be a great sled.
Tallcool 1
I'm in the same boat. 'Been riding green since '81 with only one problem sled of the whole bunch, but I was also impressed with Yammi's lineup, particularily the Attak. That sled is what I've been waiting for....136", 4-stroke, and performance, let alone std elec start and reverse. Yammi hit a homerun in my book. About 2 weeks ago I went to the local dealer to order one, but remembered one of my rules...never buy anything the first year it's out. Case in point, all the improvements to the RX1, F-cats, Rev's, even the '06 Fusion has many "updates" from the '05. So I'm going to wait a year. That will also give me time to see how Cat one-ups Yammi. If Cat doesn't provide a solid answer to the Attak-type sled (like a perf 4-stroker in the CrossFire chassis), I will order the Attak next year.
OLE POSTHOLE
I have to admit that the Nytro looks like a sled I would like to have. Have to see what cat has in store for 06.

I like dreaming.

"my apex er price is $8799+tax with cover"
That's a lot different than $9,999.
The dealers have that much room or do you have an in?
03900bigiron
that is with no IN.dealer, who i never met but my bud's deal with say's $800 in yamaha accessory's or $1000.00 off retail and $450 is his discount or $300 and cover.my cat/polari's dealer who has been very good to me all these year's will not be able to touch that price for cat's latest and greatest for 06?.(whatever they have)...i don't know what the retail was for a 05 rx-1 er.but my bud paid $8699.00 in mid jan.in feb,AFTER the 06's where released, he called me to say i could grab a 05 rx-1 er in candy red(which is a awesome looking sled) for $7599.00+tax with cover.so,if there was no such thing as a 06 apex, that 05 rx-1 would have been mine.also thinking of riding the 03 zr 900 for a couple of trip's next year and buy a 06 for myself for valentine's of 07!! i love me...lol...al...p.s if the 07 is just as awesome as the 06,i'll be all confused...

So,
If you eat at McDonalds 1 day and Burger King the next, does that mean you are not brand loyal? What do you owe McD's just because you bought a sandwhich from them?

FWI, McD's meat comes from Austraila. An equally long boat ride, and people EAT that for food everyday.

HAHA. :div20: That was funny.

This reminds of a situation here at work..

A guy with a subru legacy.. 97 needed an alternator.. 175$
so i called autozone on that one and 2 others
97 tauras with 6 cylinder (2 more then legacy) 125$
And just to go all out-
2000 silverado 4x4 extended with 5.3 - 109$

The autozone guy said foreign car parts always cost more.. almost always and are harder to find alot of the time.

My buddies that got yamahas think the same way now... and hard to work on...

Yamaha does have a good line up for 06 - I bet cat has something by 07 at the latest. You can get a 05 zr900efi for 6300 here in Michigan as we speak.

They say 4 strokes are cheaper to maintain. So i'm gonna tell a little story that happend to a friend. His RX-1 threw a stud, took out the exchanger (which i hear you have to replace the whole tunnel to replace)anyways cooked the engine. Guess what, unrebuildable you must purchase a whole new engine from yamaha. So to make a long story short he now has a $9000 parts sled due to it being more economical to buy a whole new sled vs. fixing the old/new one. I think I'd take my chances with a 2 stroke vs. loosing my entire investment that occurs when your 4 stroke blows up. Plus the lack of a recoil rope is not an option IMHO, espcially when your deep in the woods. Wait for the these 4 strokes to age, you'll be seeing them on the side of the trail as well, starters eventually fail, I wouldn't want to be wondering when it does.

Yamaha has always been pretty good about keeping parts in stock. Usually dealers can get them in a day or two. I have only had one problem in the past and i called yamaha in CA and they had the part shipped to my dealer from japan overnight. Granted i am good customer but they really helped me out and i will never forget that. they also paid the fedex to get it to my dealer.

I seen an rx-1 on the trail waiting form someone with a battery to jump him - he had no juice left in his battery
ZR9B
Hotrod is that you with the Cuda????? If so whats up??? I see you are looking for a sled ...what happened??? I think we got 1500 miles so far this year....

As for the post the new yammi line up looks good ..but Ill stick with the 2 stroke as long as possible.....

like i said,i'm a cat guy.i had 3 different yamaha dealer's say there hurting in the SERVICE department.my cat/polaris dealer can't say that!

Hey Kurt is that you? I only ended up with around 1000 miles this year. I ended up selling my SRX in Feburary and have been looking for something ever since then. How's the ZR running?

If you've made up your mind you no longer want to ride a Cat, why are you asking people's opinion, especially in the Cat forum, go to the Yamaha forum and everybody will tell you you're making a wonderful decision. To each their own, no big deal.

Suzuki motors are in cat? does it take you long to get your parts... Plus yammi has my vote for most reliable sled out there.. :wut60:
indytriple
Yamaha's are the best sleds out there period! Until you actually ride one. The V-max 4 was the best sled, until someone actually rode one. The Viper was the best trail/ditch sled, until somebody actually rode one. The Rx-1 was the best/fastest lake rocket that would go nearly 130mph on yamaha's proving grounds, all true until somebody actually rode one. I think yamaha makes a fine sled, I could care less about reliabilty after all its a snowmobile and what ever brand, its gonna break. Hit a stump and they all break the same, hit a twig an the rev peels its a-arms back and needs a new bulkhead but thats a different story. The new apex looks nice but I would wait for it to hit snow before saying its the end all of snowmobiles, we should learn from the yamaha pre season hype. There is a reason people ONLY talk about yamaha when there is no snow on the ground!
F-7 Dude
I don't understand why people come to the Arctic cat forum and bitch about them and say I'm jumping ship. I could care less about you jumping ship and buying a Yami. In fact most of us cat owners don't want to here about your buying a new Yami. When or if I ever buy one, I will not come to the Cat forum and bitch about a Cat. Go to the Yami forum and tell them about your purchase. You see, I think all the manufacturers out there have good sleds, Doesn't bother me at all you bought a Yami, someone has to. I JUST DON"T CARE ABOUT YOU!!!!!!!!!! crybaby.gif crybaby.gif :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol: :wut60:

I am sure calling him a jerk will hurt his feelings..... especially since he already said he doesn't care about you, so it is probably best leaving the name calling to another forum.

Dare I say it but:

I for one am interested in hearing about why someone would leave after 14 years of experience with a particular make. I think that's exactly what the forums are about. Learning and gaining information you couldn't otherwise get on your own.
I didn't take any of his posts as a bash at Cat and I read what he had to say with interest because I am considering an Arctic Cat. Does his opinion sway me? No but it does give me some insight and that's why I read what he had to say. Hell, I love my Ski-Doo and I've owned it since it came out of the crate but I'm looking at going a different route this time with a Cat (especially after riding one this year). I don't see why people take this brand loyalty thing so damn seriously. The guy is explaining WHY he chose a different brand without knocking his past choices and Cat owners take it like a jab at their machines. I wouldn't think Yamaha members are as interested in why he chose a Yamaha. They're already sold on the brand and would only stand to agree... and probably jab other makes in the process and that's not what he was looking to do.

BTW,
You can tell what the topic was about by reading the title. If you don't care about him or his opinions, skip over the topic. Don't read it or reply to it then. Easy.

thesnowgod, thank you seeing what i was trying to say.you put it much better than i did and they took it the wrong way.i have being riding arctic cat for a long time.i bleed green, green tools, green clothing,tie-wrap's,underware,sticker's,banner's you name it..i am know as arctic-cat al.none of my buddy's belive me when i say yamaha apex er next year.my cat dealer is telling me not to JUMP SHIP right yet cause he know's i'm a cat guy and say's he THINK'S there will be a early release big bore crossfire chassis sled.but he also has nothing bad too say about yamaha for 06.right now my 03 zr 900 with all the right goodies is for sale.if it sell's,fine.if it dont,i have absouletly no problem keeping this sled as a spear. this is the best cat(and i had many).of them all.whatever cat you get,i know you will be happy.good luck and thank you again....al...
