[SIZE=7]I read all the posts about all the close calls caused by the MORON RIDERS and get flash backs. I flipped my sled last year avoiding Joe Snowpro coming at me on MY side of the trail. Very lucky to be alive. I say to the State,
post Speed limits before every Danm blind corner, dip, hill, etc. on every square mile of public trail the State has. You Regulate the %^$$##@ out our sport with fines that would break Donald Trumps ass. Radar and bust a few hundred on trail 5. Radar and bust a few hundred on trail 8, and then they can work there way each direction of the compas. The poor Speed Racers wouldn't know what corner Mr. DNR or Officer Jim is sitting on waiting to give them a $500 ticket for exceeding SAFE speeds.

The state and counties would make a mint off these reckless SOBs with minimal effort and use of resources, while the rest of us wouldn't have to change our ridind habits one bit. And then the "Public Trails" would be safe for woman and young children once again. How cool is that!

Maybe almost killing a few of their fellow riders each year doesn't affect them a bit, but I bet this would. Money always talks.

I think I need to write my Congressman, the State has money to be made. :div20:

I disagree, all that means is more dnr patrol on the trails=more tax $ for more sleds for the state and more $ to pay these guys to give us tickets. I give the state enough of my hard earned money. I am very careful on the corners and hills but dont get me wrong i like to open it up on a nice straight away!! last thing i need is some officer on the trail telling me to ride 25 mph, f--k that shit!! all im saying is dont make us all pay for a couple asshole's on the trail. dunno.gif

Keep your speed limit idea in your state of Wisconsin and dont come to Michigan. Anyone with half a brain knows that even with a posted speed limit people are going to still speed, tickets or not. The last thing we need are more law dogs bothering us(not that I have a problem with them at all) for going 5 mph over a posted speed.

In fact, some counties do have speed limits and that is something that the rider is supposed to check out himself. More government control is the wrong way to go period.

I like the idea of hunting down these idiots and just beat the hell out of them. :wut60: Better than a stupid speed limit idea. Not only that but speed limit or not people are still going to ride on your side of the trail even if they are going 10 mph. Why, because idiots are born every day.

I agree, go back to wisconson, we don't want you here in michigan.

As far as recless riders, sure there are some, but not that many. A speed limit wont change the way people drive.

This has got to be the worst logic ever. Why have laws at all? I mean SOME people will still break them. The first law to go is the silly law about not killing other people!!!

speed limits wont do a thing. I know i wouldnt follow them.

I and many people I ride with feel that our sport is already way way over regulated. Stay in cheese land or on the highway if you want a speed limit. If it's the women and kids your worried about try private property, a club or ranch, don't ruin the sport for the the rest of us who like to put on a few hundred miles per day.

Stay in Minnesota and if you want a speed limit law there go for it. Leave us in Michigan alone. It wont work period and it would only hurt the sport for most. More doesnt equal better and this also applies to laws and regulations. This is a fun sport(this isnt like driving your car every day multiple times which isnt for fun) that only lasts 2-3 months out of the year and then people like you think we need speed limits? Like I said, stay in Minnesota.

Looking at 3/4s of your ages and "all" the countless hours of experience you have accumulated being professional snowmobilers, in addition to your responces, I would suspect most of you guys would be the first to get busted bang'n a totaly blind corner at 60, that should have been negotiated at 20. You don't own the trails, so don't ride like you do. I can do a 100 like the rest of you, but I do it when I CAN SEE the trail ahead of me. And if you think my little toung and cheek original post could never happen, Keep it up!

PS And by the way, It was a group of MI. Blair Morgan wanna bees that gave me the opportunity to slide 40 feet upside down a WI. TRAIL with a 500 pound sled on top of me. so don't sound so self righteous. LOL 1luvu.gif

Well crying kitty I have been riding almost as long as you and I have been run off the trail. But for the most part I have had many years of good riding without a speed limit so if your so upset with some people driving crazy then stay home!!!!

AGREED! Age is really not a factor either, I grew up on sleds, been riding all my life. Also a MSA life member. I'm a lot safer of a rider then someone Wikidkittys age with no experience that walks into a shop and picks up an F7 and hits the trails with the rest of us. Experience is a much larger factor than age! The last thing we need is more cops/fines. We just need to be extremely cautious in the corners in the daytime, stay on our side of the trail and be respectful on the trails. If you want to lobby for speed limits in WI then have at it, gtyof.gif imo.gif I don't think they'd benefit our trails whatsoever. :div20: -Matt

Well Mr Kitty,Ive been rideing way longer than you, worked for and riden with Bender Raceing, have 2 sons and a wife who have ridden as long as you, been run off the trail many times in the last 30 odd years, and been taken out head on by a guy who was on the wrong side and sideways in a corner over by Lovells. The last thing we need is more regulation and /or cops on trails. What we do need is people who take resonsibility for the way they do things, and perhaps some vigilante, on trail justice. Also all of what Matt said

Speed limits won't stop sledders from Driving too fast. Just like locks are there to keep out honest poeple. It's just gonna take word of mouth to police the few crazy's that fly around blind curves on the wrong side of the trail. Maybe they will cull themselves out by putting their sleds in the trees.
