SnowCrazed
IP was the busiest I've seen in years on Saturday. Sunday afternoon and Monday the place was a ghost town and I think we passed a dozen sleds on Monday. We did just a little over 300 miles from Saturday afternoon to Monday afternoon staying within the greater IP area. Sunday PM the groomers were out and I can’t believe how many miles we covered laying down fresh tracks. Monday the trails were ROCK HARD. Anyone with Ski-Doo precision skis probably knows how much that can stink (if you follow in set of them you can basically set the cruise control).

Even with a map in front of me I can’t remember every path we took but here is my take on the conditions this weekend:

All the 114s were good to awesome (except 114C just out of downtown IP as usual).
105 into and out of Norton stinks. 105 west of Norton is awful.
111s were nearly perfect as well as 2000.
105 from Avrill pond is very good except when you get close to Cannan.
96 from Cannan is awful. Parts of 96 are good but it’s awful near 102 also.
102 from 96 is very icy at first but gets good just a little north.
106/106c was good.
97/97a was very good.

So many things I would like to tell you about the weekend but I’ve got the flu and need to go back to bed.

Here are some photos for your enjoyment:

Thanks for the report. I'm gonna be there this weekend, and I'm thinking going over to Derby and the Cow Palace isn't gonna be such a good idea. ooh4.gif
Sure has been dry up there this year.

Anybody know for sure what its like getting thru Derby?? We are headed to the border motel friday for the weekend. I'm curious if we can ride out of there east and/or west towards Jay???

Thanks,
Ron

I rode through border motel saturday night. The snow was ok but not great down to the lake. Then on the other side of the lake the trails in Newport Center ,Troy,Jayand Westfield were great for the most part. The only really bad trails were in Orleans. There is also a new feeder trail off of c14 to get to Marthas Diner in Coventry. Great 2 mile trail to good food they are open for Breakfast and lunch only.

After riding Snowcrazeds Rev I guess I will have to start saving my pennies. The old Olympic does look like an old "relic" next to the new Revs.

Not a whole lot more to add to the trip picture than SC already posted, considering where the season was headed with snow conditions, the riding in IP is very good.

Just be carefull driving/riding as the moose are out, we had one almost step out in front of my truck about half way between IP and Lyndonville. Man, it was the biggest thing-and I've seen a bunch of moose.

Well I have to go put some Ben-gay on my forearm"guns"after following those Presicion ski tracks all day yesturday.

SC hope you're fellin' better we gots more ridin' to Doo. :celebrating:
