We decided to forgo the skiing trip till next weekend and headed out to the Heartwelville Trailhead on Rt 100/8. Got on the trails about 7:30. Everything was freshly groomed and untracked, thank you Snobusters. We headed up 7N, my youngest boy, Bill, was with me this time. He wasn't happy with the big, wide, flat trails and was pouting because they were "boring", of course I was loving it. To add some excitment to his trip I added a side trip to the Glastenbury Tower. This is a one lane, one way, ungroomed mountain trail to the top of one of the higher points on Southern Vermont. There is a CCC era firetower that offers a spectacular 360 degree view. We made it up without a hitch and soon were marveling at the beautiful view and freezing winds, niether of which were at the base of the tower. We had a snack and headed down to finish up the 7A loop and at the junction with Airport Road, the federallies were there checking paperwork and speeds via radar. I guess we looked innocent enough with the Ovation so they waived us thru. We headed north and got the the intersection with 100 and by this time there were lots of sleds tearing it up in all 3 directions and I wanted to get my 10 year old home safe and sound so I decided to pack it in before I regretted staying out there with the Yahoos. The trails back were still pretty good and we got back to the rig at 11am. Only one close call by an Arctic Cat in my lane. Hopefully I can get some photos posted. TIA Snocrazed. Til next time DT

I was told it was two REVs I saw 1 Rev in the center of the trail and a CAT in the ditch
but as I said I was told there was two revs that hit head on. I also saw a sled on fire,
or I should say what was left of it, it was on the power line just about at the intersection
for the Mall and adams parking area.Just a note about the head on the rev I saw
on the trail had the grey and orange light weight pannels on it.

I also heard there was a REV smashed hard into a tree on 9 just east of the intersection with 7 and left there like that. Must have took the rider to get care would be my guess. Glad we made it out in time. DT

The sled cops were riding around like maniacs to find that accident, we were at the intersection of the Kellystand Road and the logging road and an officer pulled up and asked us where we had been and if we had seen any accidents. He took off going west on Kellystand full throttle and then three more officers came screaming up and asked us if we had seen anything. They called back to the dispatcher and I heard the dispatcher say the accident was on Kellystand Rd west of the intersection with airport road. They went ripping back towards airport road figuring the accident had to be east, since they had done the whole west side of Kellystand.

We always get up there early and leave early to avoid the crazies

i was talking to my riding buddy who has a camp up there

he was there fri. and said he saw at least 3 guys going off trail....and saw many many, tracks going off the trail :frech32:

#1..people are going nuts, cuz there is finally some snow

#2 ..trails are real narrow still...last week the groomer only groomed 8feet wide everywhere around the area

#3 corners are still icey, as soon as the snow gets low
