Does anyone if this the trail from the yellow bucket trail over to 114 still exists and is it signed? I know things have been changed around in that area recently and I like to use that trail as a cut through and bypass Burke when I can.

Yes it is there, the signage isn't the greatest, so you definately need to know where you are going.

This trail is closed this year due to a logging operation. Will reopen next season with major improvements.

Too bad I was hoping to utilize this trail this weekend to get to the DC line and North Points. I ride from the Wheelock area.

Sounds like it may become machine groomed for next year though. Do you know if that will include the yellow bucket? That really sucks thats a good trail to bash around in some powder when the snow is right. It's good to be able to get to these back trails and be able to have some fun. These are all becoming full groomed now - But I guess I can't complain about that .

the yellow bucket is open from 1 West ( take a right on Radar base Rd. and the next right) to intersection in field where you go right to Island Pond (which is closed) and can head to Newark 114

The trail that takes you to 142 is closed, the trail that takes you to the yellow bucket/RT 1 "by-pass" trail is open. I have ridden it the last 2 weekends. There is definately access from 114 to 1.

Going south on 114, instead of taking a right into Newark Pond? State Park go straight and turn left, that trail heads towards 114 (the road), cross the road and follow the that trail to the yellow bucket. OR you could go all the way down to Burke and cut over down there (Sorry don't know what the intersection # is).

dunno.gif Do you mean going south on 114 by Job's Pond take a right on Newark Pond Rd. (left will take you towards Island Pond) and your first left- trail is straight ahead and follow the trail to East Haven. It is not well marked but there is only one way to really go if you are following the trail. If this is correct when you get to the other side of Hawk Mtn. you will come out to a snow covered road you must go slow 10 MPH! Cross 114 and continue to the Radar Base Road.

Yeah, I think we are on the same page. I honestly don't know the proper names for every area/roadway.

Damn, I'm lost and I've been riding this area for years. Oh well, it'll be fun trying to find it!

Can you find your way to Job's Pond on trail 114 in Newark (actually it is in Westmore from there to the bottom of the hill) while facing the barn across the street- gee I'm giving up our secret trail here yay2.gif take a right and your very next left- follow road about 300 yards and it turns to trail, will cross Center Pond Rd., follow the tracks luxhello.gif It is marked as red on the 2005 VAST map- let me know how you like it!
