not personally Yet but watched 2 guys cross from 3 mile bay to onieda shores sunday at noon. theyve been riding south shore for about a week. crossing should not be a problem by friday provided the weather holds. use your judgement if it looks like a highway its probly safe.

I also saw some guys cross on Sunday, I live in Constantia....I personally never cross until I actually see someone cross. If you pop up Saturday mornning I am sure you will see a lot of guys running from Borios to Constantia east side of the islands.

being that you live in constantia, did you hear anything about the accident? i live in bridgeport and am just wondering if it,s anyone i may have met in the past as i do alot of riding in the area. i havent seen much in the paper or on the news.

condolances to all people involved

planning on riding the lake sat afternoon if i can't sneek out before that

NOTICE to anyone not real familiar with the lake to pay attention to mouths of creeks as they are never safe. if you don't know the lake don't go. there are alot of hazards out there. follow only someone you absolutely trust.

I live in Bridgeport too and I've been riding the south side of the lake since sunday but haven't crossed yet. I've seen people doing it. Will try Saturday.

Are you talking about the accident in Hastings? I did not know the people but I know where the accident happened. C5 north just about 1 mile north of Central square, right around the second crossing of the tracks. Strage taht you would get a head on there, but the snow dust last weekend was horrible, couple that with the cold ( frozen shields ) and the bright sun.

I hate to see accidents and innocent people losing lives while trying to have fun.

i rode the lake sunday. on my way to harpoons from lewis point i came across the mouth about 1000 feet from the breakwall and just missed a 3' diameter hole that was brownish in color and the water appeared to be moving. didn't stick aroud to find out! most of the other known bad spots around the lake were pretty good with the occasional slushy spot. it could have been one of those gas pots or just a spot off the wall where the current moves a little faster. ice seems good most everywhere else. i have never ridden up the canal, didn't know you could! cool.

DO NOT ride the canal from Fish Creek to Oneida Lake. Between the high, fast moving water back 2 weeks ago, the ice never really froze down to the level that the water is at right now, so there are air pockets. Also, the state left their barge dredgers tied along the pier wall for the winter and are running the "air bubble machines" underneath them to keep the ice from damaging the hulls. It's also causing the ice to not freeze anywhere near them. The bubbles are floating upstream towards the lake and that's why the mouth of the canal out near the pier is so slushy this winter. Unload at the Sylvan Beach municipal lot and ride from there.

or just keep on the throttle, "a moving sled never sinks" grinning-smiley-023.gif

Famous last words from quite a few that I know sank their sleds in the canal under the bridge. Ha, ha.

Almost went in last year :augen41: Flew over about a 3' spot of open water...haven't been on it since. I know they were racing on it last year.

How is Oneida looking for this weekend? Probably heading up Sunday to do a little drag racing/tuning.

if your bringin hookers let me know. i was out there today and as the sun went down it tightened up alot pm me if your goin in the morn. i'll try and tell you where the smooth spots are. starz to borios seems to be the best!!!
snowman1
The ONLY smooth spots on Oneida Lake are on the east shore, from Harpoon Eddie's to the north shore. It's bumpy in spots throughtout the whole lake and slushy too in the later afternoon. I rode the whole lake yesterday and will be back today.
1FastCat
Didn't end up going today. Defiently next weekend...supposed to be colder. Going to unload off of lake shore rd.
