More top end!
Better gas mileage
Easier to pull over
And a sound in a class of its own!
If they cant make a fast 4 stroke, they swould make some modern tripples!!
I bet you guys would line up to get a modern fuel injected tripple in the fusion chassis.

tripples....

I loved the sound of my 580 xlt and 600xcr with slp pipes.... wide open... i can still hear the roar...
I still like tripples but I really like the weight of the twins...It sure makes a difference to me at least...
if polaris wants to be on top they need to continue with the changes... yamaha has tripples the old mach z skidoo tripple are fast but they can't compete with the light weight twins

I agree with the tripple craze i loved my tripples, that is why i went to yammi and got the 4 banger 4 stroke i can honestly say i miss my 4-stroke,come on poo make a kick ass 4-stroke to compete with the rx1 only more hp and lighter weight,we know you have the turbo twin water craft motor, hey its only 750 cc but if it makes 150hp and gets 15-18 mpg like the rx1 and can run 115 gps sign me up..

Good point Dave, some of the most reliable and sweetest sounding engines was the Indy 650. Gut the pipe and it had the most unique sound. Once the lightweight ditching banging phase wears off you will see the triples back and more potent than ever.
I am in the same boat as the Skippy doo boys and Poo folks. Waiting for the Hayabusa engine to be stuffed in the F Cat chassis. :cn:

AMEN DUDE!! I would by another triple in a heartbeat if they would build it. The 800XCR engine was the best ever produced by polaris or ANYONE. My favorite sled of all time was my 97XLT, 34mm carbs, with SLP pipes. What a GREAT trail sled. Had the Xtra 10 suspension, rode well, (for then).Sounded sweet, still quieter than my buddies STOCK ZL was, excellent mileage, just a blast. I really don't care if they would be the lightest, still would be a great sled.

Would deffinatly be nice to see a clean buring tripple/tripple. Weight might not be an issue, they have the technology to make it lighter. The problem would probably be sticking it in the new chassis.

A couple of years back, Polaris had a light, powerful 700 triple based off their 440 racer twin. VES, all the cool stuff. 140-150 hp and room to get bigger..........Management killed it, said the sales were in twins and that triples were too expensive. 3 pipes to make it work which means high manu costs, high warranty charges and the weight gets up there in a hurry if they are going to be durable. No other applications as they don't work that well in touring and family sleds. Fuel economy is an issue as is noise and packaging.
Don't look for a triple any time soon, not until Polaris gets back firmly into Number 1 and starts making some money in snow.

Although Fuji assembled the motor, the pressure activated exhaust valves, resonance chambered cylinder, and forked gullotines(which act as an subport modifier) are inventions of Martin Heinrich. Polaris designed the motor and Fuji built it to their specs.

i still have a 90 650 indy with triple psi pipes. runs
9200 rpms. god damn i love that sound. problem is
it's pretty much just an ice sled. it don't have the
suspension travel to help it power through the deep
stuff.

AMEN !!!! the twins have their place but I too LOVED my triples. To me the mintence of that extra cylinder was worth every penny to the guy who enjoyed cruising 175 -250 mile a day. And when you got on the lake ..... screw those twins....NOTHING has top end legs like a GOOD triple !!!! Hey Polaris you reading this, yeah I know , the bean-counters are watching over your shouldert !!

I just rode my newly acquired 2000 XCR 800 Tripple this past weekend.
It's not stock, rather has HTG heads, tripple HTG pipes and Heel Clickers.
The pipes come out of the stock can and this sled is QUIET!! It's very smooth compared to my twin. Open the trottle and the sound in so sweet it makes you want to never let off. Unfortunately the speedo pegging bottom does!
It's the Gen 2 chassis, so it could be lighter....but it handles great and the power is UNBELIEVABLE.
I'm not here to say anything negative about the Fusion or any other polaris for that manner, but I will be keeping this motor and putting it into an edge chassis for next season. Fuji, or no fuji.... this thing is unreal fast!!!
THERE'S NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT.

They killed the tripples because the big four said it was to heavy and made the machines not handle as well as the twins, well i liked my old tripple it was better on gas than my twin and ran smoother as well you could open up the hood after a long days ride and the engine compartment would be clean and and tight. In my eyes many of the new sleds are not sheding weight but are getting heavier. Im not going to say what brand i drove last weekend but it was new and felt just as heavy and more so that some of the tripples in the early 80's and 90's.

what killed it was US buying twins and loving them so if we had shut up and kept loving tripples rather than complaining about weight from them they would have to build them we did it not management look at arctic cat zrt-600 they put in valves and we laughed luckily they didnot valve the zrt-800 xcr would have had a playmate and machz would have stayed around and srx would have grown to 800 ah! would could have been if we only kept quiet and just rode and loved the heavy weight of a real triple triple iron sledd
