What is up with this guy? He is parting out what looks like the entire sled. Could this be a stolen sled? Why would anyone go through the trouble of taking each part off and sell it? I would think that all the work involved, boxing, wrenching, hauling to post office etc.. would make this very expensive and time consuming.

Why do you ASSume it's stolen? Is it just because it has low miles on it? :cn:

I am not assuming that it is stolen. I question the motives of the guy. He could have sold that sled very easily intact. The parts that are missing do not equate to a totaled sled to me. Don't get so huffy. Some of you may need some of these parts.
Matt
Weird. They're all no-reserve auctions too. This guy can't be making much if any money doing this, unless the sled was given to him.

seems pretty damn weird to me uzi.gif

BINGO. The whole left side of the front suspension and tunnel were wrecked. Insurance co.totaled the sled I'm not getting all huffy. Maybe you should have checked the sellers history before you even thought of mentioning stolen sled!

with crappy resale these days i know SEVERAL folks who have parted out their fairly recent used sleds and made more cash that way... imho, not that uncommon or unreasonable...

If its your sled, or you know who it belongs to, why didn't you let us know in this post?

Yea, but an X2? These sleds will become highly desireable in the next few years, since Polaris changed to fusion style. Hate to see a specialty sled tore down and shipped to all corners of the county. But, its his sled. dunno.gif

It's not my sled, but I DO know who it belongs to. I just wanted to see what kind of comments peolpe would make about it.

It's not stolen. The peoson who owned it smashed the left front and the fornt suspension was pushed back and it bent the tunnel.

Hope he's ok. Did he buy it back from insurance? What kind of a dollar figure does it take to total one of these sleds?

I'm almost positive that he wasn't the one who wrecked it. I think he bought it off an insurance or salvage co. I'm not exactly sure though. He rides an 02 XC800 that he long tracked to 144". All I know FOR SURE is that it's not a scam and the sled is legit and not hot. Never really got the full details details from him about it when I talked to him last weekend while we were riding in the U.P. He was asking me if I knew anyone else who owned a Polaris who might be interested in some parts off a 04Pro-X2 700. He told me that he was parting it out and he was going to list it on e-bay. I told him that a buddy of mine (polarisidiot) has an 03 Pro-X6 and I'd let him know.

When I talked to him last night about having him re-do my shocks, he said he just listed everything and that everything was being offered at NO Reserve EXCEPT for the engine.

I think most insurance co's total sleds based on a % of the value. I think if the cost to repair (parts and labor) is more than 60% of the sleds value, they total it.

Labor to swap everything over to a new tunnel is the main reason why this one got totaled.

If you guys are interested in anything you can reach him (Matt)at www.sledtech.com

Sorry for playing games at first, but when most people see a low mileage sled being parted out, they automatically assume it's hot.

The first thing I noticed about the parts is that it only had one front shock and only 1 trailing arm which led me to believe he is parting out a wreck.
zrnewf
I dunno, but he got some kickass trailer and shed accesories there!
