well whats everyone hearing for the next week weather wise? just hoping this warm spell breaks soon. i have plans to go up to derby for aweek in february and it had batter snow like hell up there before then. what a shame brand new t-660 touring with only 10 miles on it and its already january. i want to buy vast but not sure if i'm even gonna need it. someone give me some weather reports that sound good i don't care if their true or not.
tonyvt
I am sorry to report that it is raining again here in Waitsfield and the little snow we had is melting. Maybe its my own fault for buying a new REV.

The forecast for next week doesn't look promising.

DONT WORRY ....by the time Feb. gets here, there will be plenty of SNOW :fluffy:
in Derby!!! (now that I SAY that.....well...lets hope anyway!)
But really, its not that uncommon (at least in recent years) that we dont get to ride till after the New Year.....
So,lets all wish for a HAPPY one...with lots of SNOW!

I can't count the times I've heard this no snow story only to make the long ride up to find super conditions. Many times the ground has been bare all the way to St J and I've still done a great 200 mile ride. The thing is I have always reported my ride so others would have a reference on where to go and what to expect when they got there. How many others read this forum every day, ride in Vermont and never give a report? I bet 100's are riding in the NEK right now and mum is the word. It is a two way street guys, don't take it one way. DT

rained all day in IP today. nobody out riding. all the snowmobilers were in and out of our store, nobody out on the trails. last time i was up was 2 weeks ago. in my opinion, there wasn't enough to ride then. since that time ther has been no additional accumulation, only loss. i doubt there are hundreds out riding. there may be hundreds up there, but not riding.

Ok, I live here and I have 75 miles. I look out my window and there is nothing here in Lyndonville. Nothing. 6 inches in Wheelock where I ride from and raining. You think I'm lying? lol to keep you from riding here? hahah you are friggin nuts.
Get a clue.

This post really chaps my ass!! I did not know it was our sole purpose up here to report the trail conditions to you down in Mass (your location explains alot...not all :div20: ). I live in Vermont and seek trail conditions in NEK regularly...they are not hard to find. Ever hear of a phone :frech32: Or may I suggest you do as your name says...take a daytrip up here if you are not satisfied with what you are hearing. Conditions suck every where in VT right now...plain and simple. I am sure everyone wants to hear the trails are great here or there, me included, just is not the case. Seems everone is getting a little testy without the snow...hopefully things will change for the better this week and I am sure there will be several posts when people get out for some decent rides. Bring on the snow!!!
skidoo600
You are correct VT Rider most trail conditions in VT are POOR at best
I was in Island Pond this morning and there is no snow to ride in that town.
we are all hoping for snow and this encludes all the stores and gas station in ths area who need our business to surive the winter.
THINK SNOW happynewyear.gif

Arrogant? Everything I said was factual, this is the sorry part. You guys bitching about it have NEVER posted any trail reports, what does that say? I've done my part, over 15,000 miles worth or trail reports in the past 5 years, I've done trail maintence, (got my photo on the cover of VAST newsletter last year) rescued two of your native children that were frozen and lost and brought them to the Hospital. Plus rode the length of the state twice for charity. So instead of YOUR useless whining do some good with your keyboard for a change. DT

I don't care where he is from Daytripper was my hero even before his latest post (for those of you that don't visit the Yamaha site he is the boss). Lighten up guys, we sometimes seem overwhelmed by what is happening in our state but the fact is that a MA $ is just the same as a VT $ and we need them all. TAKE BACK VERMONT is history. We need snow Now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
VTrider
daytripper,

Really don't care about your credentials. So you are a snow God...I thank you bowdown.gif BTW...I have done trail maintenance, recieved a discounted TMA for it. The one trip I made this year was only 56 miles(see personal info) which was in Eden...my riding partner Vermonsterxc600 made a trail post about in this forum...go look it up, sorry but you may be disappointed on the conditions that day....and that was before the first 2" inch rain storm right before Xmas. But no sense in me re-stating what he already posted...sorry dunno.gif

Bottom line:....there is no rideable snow in all of Vermont at this time....hence no one reporting trail conditions.

Like you...I hope this changes real soon, and i will post a report if there is one to report. :beerchug:

I really don't car about my credentials either just wanted to say I'm not as big a Masshole as some suggest, (maybe a smaller one). I do believe that there in no ridable snow at the moment and hope that fact changes real soon. Thanks for ANY info that you can provide, I appreciate it. DT

Just got back from IP. Buddy JJDREVCT was up there Thursday 12/30 and rode 100 miles towards Norton and Canaan and said it was great. We headed up friday am - the rain and warm temps on Friday killed the snow that was there. Friday night forecast said snow for Saturday. Sat morning woke up only to see lots of water on the pond and no snow on the deck. Went and talked to some locals Sat morning and they were reporting good conditions up in mountains towards Averil. We trailered out towards Canaan and still did not see any improvements. So headed back to CT around 5pm. The pond was starting to freeze back up. Just need a good dumping for VT to make everyone happy.

Daytripper - I would like to thank you for all your posts, usually you ride during the week and help us figure out where to go for the weekend. Keep up the good posts.

We hung around to see the awards and had dinner there the first year. The second year we were the third group in and since we were staying overnight in Newport and riding back the next day we just checked in and checked out. DT

Ok You were the "kid" that blew a piston on your sled. We rode pretty much at the same pace there for a while although you were quite a bit faster on the trail. We talked briefly at the market in Burke when you were waiting to get picked up after your sled broke. I was riding with a guy on a ZLSS800 and another guy on a Viper the same as your's. That was a ride I will never forget. I had planned on making the ride with my usual riding partner but he got killed on his bike when he was hit by a car so his dad stepped up and took his place. Quite a ride for a guy 60+ years old! There were a lot of heartwarming stories during the awards including your's. I was hoping to ride the state end to end again this year but take a week and really explore some areas that I've never been. Might have to go to Canada now?? Time will tell. DT

well being from vt i don't guess if there is snow in the nek. i find out by watching the weather online. as far as trail conditions go if it snows there u will find the trails as good as anywhere in vt. i'm sure anyone coming from mass or ct. don't just pack up the sleds and head 300-400 miles north with the hope of snow. if you do good luck this year.

oh, yeah, i remember talking to the guys at the pumps with a viper. man, i waited there awhile to get picked up. turns out it was a siezed crank bearing. fixed free of charge, so that was good. yeah i was moving at a pretty good pace... that's part of what caused my problem, sort of. it happened in those HUGE fields just before the store. big field, smooth trail though it, = :augen41:

i ended up getting 3rd place in fundraising this past time, raised $2,800. that was a lot of work though... mostly $20-25 donations. if the ride happened again this year, there was no way i could have raised that cash again.

yeah, your plan sounds like a good one, there's a lot of good trails that you pass by on that trip. down in woodford the trails are supposed to be really good, although i've never been down there except for the CF rides. about half way up the state you get to the bridgewater/plymouth/south woodstock/south reading/north springfield area... those are some really good trails also. that's my area. not very difficult to do a 125 mile day. other then the nek, those are the two better areas to ride i believe.

i'm actually headed to canada in a few days. me and denny are headed up with another guy, a 3 day trip and 1,000 miles. can't wait.. should be great. DT, you should try to do the vt hcs ride. it's a pretty good time. i'll be there again this year.
sxviper 1+2=3 cylinders
the hcs ride is the weekend after next... jan 15 i think is the date, meet at kingdom cat in IP at 9am i think.

If we make that it will be a miracle, but they do happen. Crossing my fingers.

I have vacation from 1-12/23-05 and am thinking of canceling. I live in VT and assumed that by then the trails would be rocking. The ten day forcast still has stuff in the forties. My wife is expecting so I can't go away for a week in Canada and leave her alone. My work schedule will not let me change dates. censored.gif

Maybe I will just :beer2: for a week.
