My dealer was on phone with Greg Headlund today and he told him, that the squish he got was right, and it was consertive to say the least. Now stock head has a squish of .072 - .089 and it can have safely a .059 - .066 the one dave checked out was .072 at the most outside dia. and it ran out the .400 to .089 now he just got it back, from phils and he took .010 straight acrossed the surface, now we need to get it back on,and recheck it now,and see what that brought it down too,my compression warm on mine is 140 lbs. dave stated you will be able to pick up hp torque and gas milage with proper squish, all of which i have known for sometime, but never guessed poo had that large of a gap,wow are they safe,i bet you could run k-1 fuel and run as good as most of us do,if you could light it lol Just Food for thought!!!! :cn:

I got the same tip from an AC rep a few years back when the ZR800s first came out. We decked the head .010 too, and the increase in performance was very impressive. It doesn't surprise me at all, yet I doubt you're gonna see Polaris have a service bulletin and tell everyone to cut their heads. It will more likelyi be something they'll suggest to anyone who's not happy with the performance.

Yes wolfie i hear ya,it will be us on our owne,i am sure of that,it just pisses me and my dealer off that they send them out this way, they want to make sure and cover all there bases, you know. And yes dealer stated at .055 he thinks we can still run safe 87 fuel, but for my peace of mind i would at least put 89 and bring some octane boost, just to be safe, but i know dave will have it back on phils dyno to see where we made progress, and i will post results, got to go make a pass down the lake with new clutch mods. later

Polaris does this so next year they can add a little performance with a little more tweeks to the 900 so they can stay in the ball game. They did the same thing on the 600 motor. (Later)

At least there is performance left on the table.
