Ok! I FINNALLY got to go out and ride my new 2003 sxViper Mountain today.

I was surprised by two things...

1- It pulls real hard of the line (very nice)

2- Top speed was only 77mph at 8800rpm???

Is that normal? I mean yeah it's supposed to be geared low but 77mph wide open on a lake at -15C with 8 inches of snow and that's it?!? 77mph...

120HP and all it will do is 77mph?!? Mountain Max do about 85mph

I know it's not a lkae racer but 77mph seems off a bit too much.

The sleds compression is a bit questionable I think anyway 100psi (pto) 121psi (center) 119psi (mag) tested with WOT (350miles on the sled)

Other than the holtzman ATACC the sled is stock.

Oh and she's a bitch to start 5-6 pulls most of the time.

Need help please...

I still got warranty till Jan 19, 2005 and I want to get all the bugs fixed.
slednecks
remember its a mountain sled not a lake racer...i have a 2002 viper 121 and i get 105mph..and i geared up one tooth...when u go to start when the sled is warm..hold the throttle open about a 1/8 to 1/4" and pull at the same time...when shes pulls over let go of the throttle.
full throttle
if you have to hold the throttle to start it chances are you need to adjust the needle jet a little richer or possible the fuel screws my viper even before the pipes would do 150 k to you thats around 95 miles up a small 2degree slop or so with 2 people on it with one person i get to that speed faster i have no where around here to open it up and see how fast i will top out at im sure not much faster than that check your jets piston wash plugs make sure your getting the right amount of fuel you can also alter the clutch to get an over drive affect
