I'm very pleased with my Olympus! THe model I purchased is their "all weather" model. Mine is the Stylus 400 Digital, but I see that they've updated the number to the 410. The best things about this camera is the fact that it is compact in size, has a rechargeable Lithium battery (which means you don't have to keep shelling out $$$ for new batteries) that last a Loooooong time before needing recharged. It also has the XD storage card which is super tiny in size and it's all wrapped in a cool crome package. I purchased mine at Office max.
Do some research on what you think are important features to have and go from there.

All digital cameras are good at this point, but professionals always look to Canon and Nikon, usually in that order. This site is good for info and reviews: http://www.dpreview.com/
Most of my trip pics were taken with a cheap Canon A20. I just bought a S70 for this year. Models change fast, there are excellent buys on Ebay if you are careful..also can get good buys at the malls on clearance or discontinued models. Go for the best bargain and you really can't go wrong.

i suggest canon g9 digital camera http://www.canong9.net
i like it really very much, it has 7.1mp, 4x optical zoom and its
price is very affordable, only 500$
this digital camera gives you an oppertonity take a great pics at
night time, daytime. It is very compact to take on birthday parties,
on sport events... and it has also 1 advantage too.. with it you can
capture pics without BLUURING
