Rob,

On the main board you mentioned you went out for a 30 mile jaunt and you came across a FedEX truck in the trail. You then mentioned that they plowed a trail all the way to N. Danville. What section of trail are you talking about? Will this be permanently plowed or will they give up when snowdepth increases. I'm in this area all the time so I'm curious.

Thanks!
rob
I wish I knew. This is the trail from north danville (weather station) to coles pond, passing by the "lookout" turns. It has never been plowed before. I haven't had the chance to talk to anyone about it. dunno.gif

Gotcha. It used to be totally unplowed but I have noticed how the plowed section has been working it's way closer and closer to the lookout turns in the past few years. Have you heard anything about a new section of trail that will come down from the lookout to trail 51 fairly close to where trail 51 crosses the Stannard Mt. road? I've heard it's supposed to replace the trail that came down the back side of the lookout and intersected the Stannard Mt. road well uphill of where 51 crosses it.

Any sign of grooming or packing by the Danville club? Checked behind Marty's on Sunday 12/19 and din't see any grooming equipment.

there used to be a trail there years ago..if they redid it I haven't heard. Usually the stannard mtn road is snow covered pretty well. There is also a way through from trail 51(ramseys crns) back to Flagg pond but I havn't been on that for years. Walden club has done a lot of work getting the trails off the class 3 roads..should be good. I didn't get down to marty's so I don't know if danville was out but I doubt it..not enough snow.

Danville was out this week, I rode from Ramseys toward Danville. Some of the riding was awesome. I turned a little bit before Stannard Mtn. Rd. Wish this storm would be snow, the riding would be great.

That's great that they are getting Walden trails off from the Class 3 roads. I'll be looking real forward to that in late March! The trail from Ramsey Four Corners to Flagg Pond is a real neat trail and another late season favorite if the mud bog below the old Piperville community holds frozen. Problem is they were logging the Flagg Pond end of that trail last year. Came thorugh one day and there were 3 foot deep skidder tire trenches. Talk about technical riding!
