which sounds nice. If anyone has any info on NEK or places to ride things to see. anything let me know. Thanks,
Chris

If enough of the right people read your post, I'm sure you'll get a ton of info.

I've ridden up that way many times and the Comfort Inn is a decent place to ride out of BUT, in some years and depending on when you go, it's still a little too far south and the snow can be marginal. If I were you, I'd go a little farther north and stay in the Danvile or Burke areas or even farther north if you can. The odds will be in your favor if you try to stay north of St. J.

Try this for NEK info:

DJ!!! STOP TELLING EVERYONE ABOUT OUR RIDING!!!! Guys, the riding in the NEK sucks! Stay in woopford. The trails are always bumpy, never marked, can't find any gas. There's no where to eat or fnd a place to stay. :banghead: Just kidding!
If you find yourself in the Island Pond area, there's a hotel there, usually pretty packed, so make reservations early. Seymour Lodge may or may not be opening this year. It's right down the road from my house, about 10 minutes by truck from Island Pond. The trail goes right to the lodge, which there is also a store with gas and food. Please patronize them if you're in the area. They feed the groomer every time he comes down. My buddies have been staying at the lodge for 3-4 years every weekend. They called the ladie a couple weeks ago, she wasn't sure what she was goin to do. There's also hotels in Derby, exit 27 off 91 North. Super 8 is left off the exit. That place is better in my opinion, cause there's a trail (105A) out the back instead of 105 which goes under the highway and through town. It's always F'ed up. Anyway, that's the scoop!

The Comfort Inn in St. J is at the junction of Rt 93 and Rt 91 (Highways- not trails) There is a trail from the parking lot that will bring you to Danville to the west and St J to the north. If you go further west past Marty's Store (Trail 2,5 and 51), you can head south to Groton.
When there is snow, the trails are great and there are plenty of them.

Let me know if you head up this way and I'll hook up with you. I can get you to Island Pond, Walden (Rob's neck of the woods), Groton State Forrest, Glover (great trails).

Might even be able to find Seymour Lake!

ZLSS, stay off my trails!!

I'm invading Morgan this winter :augen41:

You will recognize us- thousands of lost snowmobiles- all with the fibreglass rod and little orange flags that bolt to our rear bumpers frech11.gif

Comfort Inn is a good place to stay as long as there is good snow cover. Further North is more predictable. If you want info on trail conditions in ST.J. get in contact with trailman@sovernet before you come.

Here's some other places in or around St. J........

Holiday Motel in St. J
Changing Seasons in Lyndonville

There's another one further up, can't remember the name.

All have trail access.
fixer5000
the comfort inn doesnt have a restaraunt...stay at the changing seasons and eat at vinnys...best food around...happy trails

If you're drving all the way up, you might as well go all the way to Island Pond.

If you want cheap and accessable, last year I stayed at

http://clyderiverhotel.islandpond.com

They had a nice big warm fireplace.

It's next door to a snowmobile dealer, and you pass a gas station on your way to the pond (500 feet). The gas station has hot coffee and food, what more do ya need?

I think it was $60, and I had to share a bathroom.

The only thing I'd miss is high speed internet. Supposedly, this place has high speed internet. http://www.avalonvermont.com/ , but I'm not paying $50 more a night for net access, especially when I'll prolly just collapse on the bed.

If anyone else knows about another hotel with highspeed net access, near the pond, pls let me know.

lock up your sleds at night, and dont run any stop signs cuz theres one cop that just sits and waits to nab you.

the season started a few hours ago!!

and its a blizzard down here in New York!
