Someone could plan a place to get together in Wausau. I bet it would be a great ride from there to Green Bay and back. I never rode that trail but I have heard of it. Has anyone ever taken that run before and how long does it take?

Jesus that is probably 1.5 hrs in a car going 70mph! That would be a little long I think.

I've never been on that trail, but Me and my buddies sometimes go up to my grand parents cabin and sled between phillips and Ladysmith. It seems like those trails NEVER get abused. The last 3 times I went up, the trails North East of Ladysmith are absolutely perfect, and never crowded. It must now be a very popular area to ride. It would be a longer drive for the people in southern WI (Like me) But it would be worth it for the good trails.
I guess there is no guarantee that the trails would be smooth either though

Yeah , so thats only like 1 hour on a sled going 90 MPH!
J/K, It depends what you like to do, I like riding long and hard, some people would rather stop more often and not make a job out of it.

Well, I chatted with a guy on here last year and he lives in wausau. He said he ran that so I would figure going along 29 with little to no towns it should be like the hwy. Anyways it just seemed like good conversation, I am not real good with organizing things of this sort but if someone else plans it I ride. I dont have a doo but I think my polarmo will do.

I think with the Wausau to GB ride is it 90% RR grade Boring! Wausau to medford or some other would be better but I would be in could go to Antigo from Wausau a little of everything woods fields etc. no a lot of traffic.

The Mountain Bay Trail aka Rail Road Grade basically extends from the outskirts of Green Bay to Wausau. My parents live right off of this trail in Gresham, WI. I spend much of the winter using this trail in small doses to connect to some of the local trails. It is a long stretch of trail that allows very high speeds and allows you to get from point A to point B in a quick manner. But it does get boring after a while. The best bet it to get some of the local maps that connect to the Mt. Bay Trail and see where you can get off and explore the local flavor. Stops in Birnamwood (Chet & Emil's), Bowler (Emil's Place) and Gresham (Long Branch Saloon) would be good places to have warm ups. I would strongly suggest a ride to Antigo as well. Nothing like the high speeds of the potato fields. Keep me posted. I would be interested.

I would be up for it... I D.J. at the Luau in Schofield on the weekends... I'm always up in that area... The only problem is they need to have snow!!! In that part of the state its hit or miss.... It's depressing looking out my window here in Waukesha and seeing brown grass..... Espically after coming back from Hurley last weekend.

Always looking for guys to ride with at my level due to father aging he cant push it as hard anymore. if your interested we should hook up some time. Drop me a email at www.sledandsnow@yahoo.com

I'm with ya on the Phillips area! Price County trails are AWESOME & not much traffic! I've got a cabin in Fifield in-between Phillips & Park Falls! I'll be there over the Christmas weekend! Hope there is good snow!

My wife's form Wausau, and her family still lives there, and we live in Green Bay, so this is my kind of ride!!!
Let me know if we can get it going. Railroad grade trails or not, ANY type of ride is better than not riding at all!
The trails in Green Bay are about a 6 inch snowstorm from opening still. We have alot of snow, but not quite enough yet to ride.

Let's ride from Eagle River. I say we all stay at the Hiawathan motor inn. As the owner(s) are active and helpful members on the site, why don't we support them as they support us?!

Sounds like a good ride, I'm not one to set things up, but the best starting point would be Dale's Weston Lanes, that trail, The Mountain Bay Trail, starts in his backyard! Literally! It is a great run, if someone could try and plan it, I'd ride, if it fits into my schedule.

God Bless Our Troops!

If you guys can decide where to go on a group ride it woudl be much easier to head it off, I have seen wausau as an idea as well as eagle river? Any other ideas then we could all decide on one with a poll. Just an idea
