First time I've been on this website.

I've never experimented with clutching before but would like to start. Any suggestions on good weight / spring combinations for low and mid range on the primary? Should I consider gear changes as well? dunno.gif

I'm new to the same model that you have, just got it last week. I started off with 10-64 weights in the primary with a Polaris Almond Blue spring. Do you still have the stock secondary, if so I don't think there is much you can do. I have changed mine to a Polaris roller as I have added PERC, but have the same problem as a 50/36 helix is as steep as you can go. I dropped the lower sprocket by one tooth to a 41T, for some reason they geared the '03 models higher and put them back again for 04. All this is a starting point and I have zero miles so far. This is all based on advise off this forum. The next step is to add a Team roller secondary and then I guess you have a whole new spectrum of heilx's to choose from.

Secondary is stock as well - that was my next question - what should I do with that (I'm a clutch moron)

having the same sled i used a alm pri,64 weights, epi org sec, dalton 50-38 full progressive helix,, 24-41 gears,
did you do the cdi up date ,jet down to 420 mains,, this pulled hard, and 115 on the speedo

i now have perc, and many other changes now, so starting fresh again.

10-66s, almond/blue, move stock silver/blue to hole #3. This set up put my bone stock '03 700 (even jets) one length behind a friends box stock '03 F7. I though that was pretty good for weights and a spring. Oh by the way, I have an SLP single to fit into the stock silencer for sale if your interested.

Actually have SLP single. Also have v-force reeds and boost bottle although I don't think the boost bottle does much - v-force do make a difference though.

you never mentioned the pipe earlier, keep your stock 440s in
dog700
Oh yes the boost bottle does do something...something bad! Scrap my clutch set up with the pipe. Almond , 10-64s, 50/34 progressive, silver/blue #2 will shift you out with stock gears.

I found Epi red primary, 64gram, if you can pull them try 66, 430 jetting no problem even w/pipes, if you are running studs then the big number helix is good if not a 44/40 or 44/38 works great for all around trail riding, I even lowered my needles 1 or raise the clip 1, you should be out in front of the f7 no problem.

That's a bold statement. gear, don't be racing for pinks first time you meet up with one. In my testing so far I haven't seen the 10 hp that SLP claims on the 700. That pipe was R & D'd for the 800 and the 800 can get it hot enough to make a good 6-7 real ponies. The 700 can do it too but it takes some fairly hot jetting. Don't get me wrong, It definitly has a sharper tug as the valves open and definitly makes a little more torque, however I have not been able to see any improvements on top end speed having acheived full shift with both at a wide range of RPMs. 115mph give or take on the speedo, I can pull it with both. If you like to race 660 or 1000' I think the high flow caracteristics of the SLP pipe will allow you to run leaner jetting then you could get away with using the stock pipe. Gut the box,add reeds, then put on the dyno and run both at .65 BSFC 200 rpm per second. I don't think you would see any difference in peak hp and 7000 RPM and lower would be higher with the stocker. If you then hold it at wot for a little longer I think you would see the SLP pipe hp start to climb along with the rpm at which it occurs. On the other hand, the stock pipe being more restrictive thus holding more heat would transfer that heat back to the engine and send it into limp mode. I think the SLP pipe is a great mountain or lake pipe for long pulls a wot. I'm thinking of testing extra wrap and/or tighter stinger widths on the SLP this winter in hopes of findind a more 700cc specific tuning for this pipe.

I beg your pardon for the long rant.

Cheers!
