No. But you might consider keeping them on as they act as a sound reducer as well.
zrnewf
Not worried about sound....

Airborne Coatings will do your pipes if you ship it to them.

Click to view attachmentClick to view attachmentYou could do something like this with the heat shield. I had the shields powder coated.
krellheat
Looks sharp. Is the powder coating affected by the heat?

The Black on my ZR 900 is 2 years old. I just bought the F-7 and I have not ridden it yet. Had it done many times, and never had a problem. Plus, if you buy an aftermarket pipe(the black cover is on a speedweerx pipe) it appears stock.
krellheat
I am having some items powder coated black for the F7. A red or yellow color for the heatshield on my Joker F7 would be nice.
turtleheadking
Either will look cool. You really can't see it unless you open the hood, so I say stay away from yellow.(Doo color).
ZR800EFI
turtle, the SpeedWerx head on the 900 doesn't look all that stock...

I was refering to the pipe appearing stock. I have gotten many tickets in Wisconsin for having pipes.(Bastards).

There's a company called Pro-Finish in Grand Rapids Mi that will do powder coating and high temp coatings. They did my exhaust and it looks great! cheaper than most too. real sled guys there...
zrnewf
the problem I have is that im on an island, therefore shipping is brutal...

You should have tried out for the part of Gilligan on the new series. JK. There has got to be someone out ther by you that can do it. Otherwise, wait til you plan a trip and maybee they can do it same day. Good luck.
zrnewf

zr500rider5
i used jewlers rouge and a buffing wheel looks like a mirror. now i just touch it up with some kick ass dimond-dust pollish my dad brought home. i wish he could get some more but the guy never came around after that one time. some fly-by-night guy.. owell
zrnewf
i have mine polished now...but the pipe looks terrible. so im thinking getting the pipe ceramic coated silver and the heatsheild either black or green.
zr500rider5
use stove black to make it look good again
