I need to replace my slides. I have heard that you can enlarge the holes in the track so that the slides will slide out without a complete suspension removal. Can anyone tell me if this is true or offer another idea. Thanks.

ok this is how to do it with out removing it.. get a buddy , pick the ass end up, make sure u have a really sharp knife, cut the track off, and stitch her back together, that how i did it. if the thred dont hold use a roll of duct tape. :div20: :div20: :div20: :div20: :div20: :div20:

glad you had the time to offer such wonderful ass istance.

Anytime!!

seriously though, there is a website at the top of this web page that is called EZ sliders.. that is the only way that you can pull out your slides through the rear windows without pulling out the suspension.

The best thing to do is to man-up and pull out that suspension it gives you an excellent opportunity to grease up all those zircs and check all your bogey wheels for wear...

good luck!

I was hesitant to remove the suspension because I was told it is a royal pain to get it lined up to re-install and to align again. Any guidance would be great.

When you are loading the suspension back into the sled adjust your rear bogey wheels all the way forward to give your track some slack, put the front in first and jam that thing all the way up into the drive shaft so that way you can work the ass end of the suspension into the back of the track. once you get it sitting into the track put the front bolts in first and then the rears, you might have to work at lining up those bolts but once you get the fronts in then just use a carjack to pump up the rear of the suspension into place.

good luck to ya!

oh yea!
make sure you hang up the rear of the sled from above so you dont have anything in your way and hang that b*tch about waist high to get the fronts in...after the fronts are in you can lower it back down to get the rears in! After you do it a couple times it gets easier... its not exactly rocket science!

Thanks. I will give it try and see how things come out.

I had a pain in the ass doing mine too. Although all I had to do was unbolt the back of the suspension and loosen the springs then just worked the track to each side and took them out. However I ripped the whole suspension out to put them back on. dunno.gif

You can measure the bolt holes on the sled and then use a strap to get the suspension holes the same size and slide it right in. What I mean compress the suspension a little so you don't have to fight with it. Makes it easier if you are doing this alone...

I changed my track three times before I found the right one....it is a royal pain....make sure you have a budd if not two there to help it just goes easier....

Stick a tie down from the top of the suspension to the bottom...then get the fattest friend you have to sit on the sled...pull the tie down tight to compress, makes it a ton easier...also, dont use ratchet tie downs, use the friction clamp ones, that way when you put the puspension back in...if it doesnt quite line up you can loosen it a bit so it fits...Ive done tones of these and it does get easier..and like was said before...hang the ass end of the machine up after tightning the tie down...
Good luck

Don't know if you tried to pull the suspension out, but I have a much easier fix.

Use the flat end of a crowbar and heat it up with a torch, pick two windows (one on each side) and melt the track about 1/8 of an inch on both sides of the window. This allows you the room to pull the slides out, and put the new ones in, and it does not weaken the track any. Hope this helps, and its much easier than ripping out the entire skid. :beer2:

I remember some guy telling me to round the ends off of each side of the slides and make two holes of the windows in your tracks bigger. So with the windows a little bigger in the track and the ends of the slides rounded they pull out easy, and round both sides off of the new ones so they go in easy and come out easy. AGAIN later on down the road.
