Last year paid 294 full coverage for an 02 xc700sp

Thats quite an increase, considering ive made no claims, good record etc...
I phoned and they told me its an accross the board increase for all sleds...just wondering if anyone out there has had their rate go up significantly

Funny you ask, I just got my renewal in the mail today for my ZR and it is staying exactly the same. Might be state issues.

I dunno because I've never insured a sled in my name before...but I'm paying $575 this year for my 98 T Cat. That's a big jump up from my buddy who insured it last year for $290.
But I'm limited to who will insure it because I have my car insurance with State Farm and they won't do my sled, and it's very hard to get stand-alone insurance. And I'm 21 so 1000cc's makes it that much harder.

I am having a hard time finding any reasonable quotes. So far they are all over $1000.00. And I got a clean record.

$650/yr for my 04 F7, and enclosed trailer full coverage, I'm under 25 and have had 2 total loss claims with the same company with my trucks (neither I was at fault for)

I'm paying $580/year for my XC600.. when I had a clean record....
Although I seem to have had an issue w/ my right foot this year. Not about to rate shop 3 tickets later.. I blame the autobahn (aka the 407.)
Yikes, I think that's gonna leave me stuck w/ the same sled/truck for 6 more years..

I just got my renewal with RBC. It went from about $780 a year down to $452. Full coverage. Yeah....still getting raped, but what can you do.
I got a quote from Direct Protect for $333....but you have to move your automobile too.
My current insurere PILOT won't insure my MXZ800 because they will only insure sleds up to 750cc's.
I guess I need to add 20 years onto my age, get married, and drive a 20 year old sled for my rates to go down. LOL.

It would appear that TD set the hook last year by being one of the only companys taking new sled business. This year they'll reel in those customers with a hefty rate increase. Afterall, where else will you go. In Ontario we're screwed.
Last year trial permit sales fell 15% and the insurance crunch had just begun. Expect the clubs and OFSC to really be hurting this year when they take another huge decrease in sales. Thanks to Big Insurance. :banghead:
And of course our useless politicians wouldn't pull there heads out of the sand until it's far to late to save snowmobiling. They're just too buddy-buddy in bed with BIG INSURANCE :banghead: :banghead:

Talked to my broker at Primmum. He said that 1. engine size means nothing 2. That they won't nail you twice (If you're already getting nailed for your auto). 3. Its all in the value of your sled.
2000 Ski Doo Formula 600 DLX - $130 fire & theft (said paying 4K)
2000 500 xc sp - $116 fire & theft (said paying 3K)
Just bought a 2000 MXZ 700 SB - bill of sale was for $1000 so I have to say that it needs work to get it going. They will take the book value for it.
Collision is where you're all getting it, or you don't have a policy with the provider already.

Yep...it's all about the replacement cost, theft rates, and damage the big machines can do. Just like with motorcycles...standard insurance companies in Canada will have a premium for these "supersport" sleds.
RBC dinged me with a $250 premium for an 800cc last year.
My existing carrier Pilot won't write anything over 750cc
ING won't write anything over 700cc
Economical won't write anything over 700cc
Facility quoted at $1200 (full coverage)
You can tell them what you want for the approx. value of the sled. They factor that in, but for the most part, they know the value, theft rates, and average repair costs. You'll pay for those well sought after sleds.

Sled ins.is like a case of beer. It doesn't mater what the cost we will always buy it. If my rate was 2 grand I would still stay in the sport. :div20:
