My son says when he lets off the gas of his 98 mxz 670 the rear end gets squirrly on him, is the suspension need adjusting or what? I already scolded him for letting off the throttle.

Could be a couple of things. Check the ski alignment - it should be toed out a little and definitely not toed in - and also check the front shock/spring in the rear suspension. If the preload on that spring is too high, it'll make the sled act very strange. You might also want to try pulling up the limiter straps one hole tighter (or whatever the adjustment it on that sled).

Sounds like you have to much carbide in the front my old 580 did that when I put on new ones

I was always told no more than 4" carbide when you have no picks in the track. I think the arctic cat catalog will tell you what to use depending on what you have or don't have in the track.

6" carbide I'll check to make sure alienment is correct. Could the problem be rear suspension's to stiff. I guess i need to learn how to set up the suspension. If any one has a simple explanation to start me in the right direction it would be appriciated.

I would say that you have too much rear pressure.

I wish i was riding. It was last year, and there was enough snow. I was thinking a down shifting problem?? Possible or not

Well now I feel better! Begining to think I was the only one not riding.
It could be a backshift problem, but it could also be a lot of other things. Best to change one thing at a time, that way you know what made the difference.

the problem may be to much preload on the center shock(front arm rear suspension)
if the sled was set up for someone heavier the whole sled needs to be softened
there should be instructions on the belt gaurd for his weight if not contact your local dealer
they should be able to help you that is their job

i'd check that track tension and the preload on that front shock in the rear.
