One of my mags didn't mention a speed limit in Vermont.
Is this true?
I ride New Hampshire, lots of Fish and Game, frustrating on the wide open groomed trails keeping it near the 45 limit there.

Many parts of VT do have a speed limit - near Island Pond is one place that I know of.

This is right off the VAST website:

"The maximum speed limit on state lands is 35 m.p.h. The use of radar on snowmobile trails is becoming a standard practice. With the use of hand held radar guns, the enforcement of speed limits that are imposed on all state lands, has increased dramatically. Snowmobiles are subject to posted speed limits on public roads open to snowmobile traffic.

A frozen lake is considered a public highway and the maximum speed limit is 50 m.p.h."

There are plenty of State Police and other Wardens out on the trails checking for other things too and I have seen them paint orange lines in the middle of corners and watch for sleds that don't stay right.

Only speed limit is on State lands = 35 mph, (NEK, Groton, Waterbury)

Lake is Public highway and = 50 mph

Majority of VT trails are on private land, no speed limit

I'll never forget the time we passed a State Trooper or Warden's speed trap. We were crusing (40-45) not going to fast and stopped about mile up saying jez we're lucky and who comes bombing around the corner totally out of control but that same cop, his feet came out from his foot rest and flopping in the air. It was a riot and still makes me laugh.
