What are you guys doing about prefilter to prevent snow from getting in the air box? I am going to try running the airbox with out the shelf in it. I know the shelf is there to cut down on noise and help stop snow dust from washing out the oil..... Will a set of prefilters on the stock edge hood be enough to stop this from being a problem? I rarely ride in deep powder , maybe at the most a foot. Often times I am leading the pack or breaking trail on private land. so snow dust on trail hasnt been a big issue with stock air boxes..... Also when you remove the shelf how much will the jetting need changed? I have a 2003 prox 7 with just the shelf removed. halloween1.gif

I ran the gutted airbox with the SLP airhorn kit in it last year and had a LOT of carb icing and frost/snow in the airbox.
I too am curious how much improvement the prefilters give?
I'm certain they are better than without them.

Where do they install? Are they avail from POO or aftermarket?

I'm not certain I will run the SLP gutted box this year because of this, although i am puttin the SLP single on my PROX this year and want to get the performance out of it so would like to run the gutted box if I can keep the snow out?

Looking for experience of those who ran the SLP single 700/800 with and without the gutted box and what they thought.
I have seen enough DYNO documentation including the unbiased Dynotech testing, to suggest the gutted box allows more airflow therefore HP but 1 or 2 HP isn't worth the water in the carbs and or iced up carb circuits.

it adds close to 5 hp with SLP airhorn gutted and flowrights

i going to run the gutted air box,slp box mod ,and full slp single,
but couldn,t bring my self to cut holes for flow rights or run the slp aluminum prefilters that mount on the cowl.

bought the pre filter material from Oh Canada and going attached to the inside of the cowl at the intakes somehow,
also removed ,stock filters, some of the plenum in the intake tract to allow for more air as a flowright would do.

i know, dosn,t anwser your ?, just what im going to try,
as far as jetting ,i will run 440s first ,then hook up the tempa flow, see what happens

5HP? the more i read about this , all i,ll get is 5 true HP from the pipe,

dont be afraid to put in the flowrights. i was worried about cutting up my hood, but it was actually very simple. not hard at all. just go at it.

not afraid, just don,t want to cut up anything
