I’m wondering what the difference is between clutches on a ’07 & ’08 F1000. Can I use the primary/drive & secondary/driven clutches from an ’08 F1000 on my ’07 F1000? The p/n’s are different, and this is what it seems the differences may be:
2007 Primary – Four roller style w/ Yellow/White spring
2008 Primary – Three roller style w/ Purple spring
Do these really require two unique clutch puller tools, like the AC service manual says?
Will the ’08 fit on an ’07 & will the cam weight & spring be correct to give me the proper RPM?
2007 Secondary – 38° Helix w/ orange spring
2008 Secondary – 46°/40° Helix w/ orange spring
So, just a different helix angle?
Do you know where I can get a good deal on a new primary/drive clutch?

check with Cat country in minnesota, my 4 tower went bad, called them got a three tower primary with new weights and spring for less than what my local dealer wanted for just the clutch.

Hmm, I sold a New 3 arm one here last week for $300. list price was $570 at my dealer. I still have the new weights for it if you need them. the 07 to 08 clutches use 100% different weights, helix and primary springs as you know. you can not interchange these. 07 was 4x 70g, 08 was 3 x85g. 07 update kit was for 73s. I have some new "take out" 70 and 73g arms too. '07-09 all use the Same puller. AC changed the color and the part # in '09 but either part# will work.

I understand that there are a different number of weights & hence different sizes (grams) & different primary springs. My question is can I just install a complete primary & secondary clutch assembly from an '08 onto my '07?
The reason that I'm asking is because the secondary broke a couple weeks ago & I had to buy a new assembly. Last weekend the primary broke, so I need to get a new one of those too. I'm done with this snowmobile, so I need to get it working again & ready to sell. My friend has an '08 F1000 with 1,800 miles on it. I'd rather put the new clutches on his sled & then put his used clutches on my sled to sell. But, if his '08 stuff isn't compatitble on my '07, then he's stuck with what he has, and will have to pay for new ones probably next year when his breaks like mine (and others) did after 3,500 miles.
Why would they change the p/n for the clutch puller and the only difference is the color that they paint the tool?!? So, I can buy either one and it will work to remove my '07 clutch & also work to remove his '08 clutch?

yes. if your swapping both clutches, complete, as units, then yes they are a direct replacement. the sleds are geared the same, same hp, same sled. the pullers are different colors and one takes a different size socket, but both are interchangeable. and yes, again, I know as I have both and have worked on several of each sled. 07-09s.

Okay. I need to get a primary clutch to replace the broken one, just so I can get the sled ready to sell. Therefore, I guess I can look for any style ('07 four-roller, or '08+ three roller) of used clutch off of ebay?

Is he a dealer that will sell me a new one, or someone that has a used one to get rid of? If I was going to keep the sled, I'd want a new one. But, since I'm selling it, I just want something to get it running again.

There you go. Natefrese has 2. I've already sold the ones that I had, but I do have new and used weights still.
Thanks Sledhead.
