i need to change my brake shoes on my sxr.
i noticed there are 2 bolts to take the caliper off the rotor, and there are 2 allen key bolts to split the caliper in half, leaving the outer part of the caliper attached to the rotor, which is the better way to change the shoes?do i have to compress the piston?any info on how to change these shoes with minumum hassle would be greatly appreciated.

you don't need to pull the caliper unless you need to push the piston back in. Pull the two bolts holding the pads in and pull the pads up and out. I was able to slide in a piece of thick sheet metal the width of the piston and open the fluid res a crack and push the piston in enough to put in the new pads. Doug
