I just bought a 01 mountain cat 800 le. I was up riding it for the first time and it started to overheat, I opened the hood and there was coolant spitting out the reservoir cap, my fault I didn't have it on correctly. So to get back to my vehicle I put about a quart of water in it and it ran just fine. When I got home I bled the coolant by taking the drainage hose cap off, I think I got it all out. But when I went to fill it I could only get 2 quarts max in (it takes 3). I idled the motor for a few minutes to cycle it into the engine, all while watching the temperature light. Well it came on after about 3 or 4 minutes so I immediatly shut the engine off. I even elevated the rear of the sled while draining and the front while filling. Any advice here. I am new to the world of snowmobiling and could use any advice. Thankyou very much

You've got to get the whole front end of the sled up in the air. I use a floor jack. The problem is that you've got air in the rear cooler. Raise it up a couple of feet to get the air moved up to the front. Fill the engine thru the thermostat hole and the coolant jug after you put the hose back on. I squeeze the hoses to make sure that all the air is out.

Yup, sounds like you've got air in the cooler. Once you get all the air out, it should be fine. ^^^Just do what he said.

if you don't go a sled jack and want it our easy get your air compressor at around 70 psi and blow it out. trust me itwill all come out
