A freind of mine bought a '98 Mach 1 (700 triple, triple pipes) at the end of last season, so he only really had 1 quick run.

On the list of repairs, he needs to confirm that the clutch that is installed is indeed the correct clutch set for that machine. The only reason he questions this is because there is a grease pencil marking on the secondary clutch stating '98 500, which could indicate that the clutch had been replaced with another secondary clutch.

Is there a part number stamped on either or both the primary and secondary clutches??? If so, what is the correct part number for this machine???

Thanks

As far as I know, the part numbers aren't stamped on the clutches. More important than the part numbers are what's actually inside the clutches:

Primary:

Green/violet spring, 286 ramps, solid pins, clickers on #2

Secondary:

Heilx (part no. 504148300), Beige spring.

It's a good idea to pull the clutches apart anyways and clean them up & replace any worn parts. Plus, with it being a used sled, you never can tell what someone might have put in the clutches. I have seen some pretty strange stuff in friend's clutches that I have torn apart.

Hopefully whoever replaced the one half with the markings on it has also replaced the other half. They are balanced as a unit from the factory.
