welp... tunnel extension is on, track is in, skid is re-assembled (though still sitting on the floor), front shocks/springs are now in...
to do list :
1. get chain links removed for proper length, reinstall gear set and add oil...
2. install pipe/can
3. reinstall skid
4. install atacc
5. install new clutch (when it arrives)

why do you have to get the chain links removed? What gears are you running?
I've got 22:40 in mine, and everything lines up to spec with the 74pitch.

yes it can be done, just pound out the pins, take out the 2 links, and be sure to re-peen the pin ends when you reinstalled them.

bonzi,
not sure if what you are planning on doing is right or wrong, but if you do take links out, just be careful. About 3 years ago, my dad and I did that to his zr700. about 400 miles into it, the chain snapped and exploded. Basically took out the entire chaincase, shaft, belly pan, etc... It looked like a small bomb.
just my 2 cents of input...

Bonz - is that a cobra windsheild on your sled? how well do the handle bars clear it? I usually have my bars all the way forward and the stock windsheild doesnt deflect much wind of my hands, just wondering if the cobra clears your bars and is working good for you.

they clear but just barely (better have the bars straight if you wanna lift the hood)... my bars are not all the way forward, my block is almost straight vertical (a couple of degrees back from that)... planning on a tall riser this year though so i should be able to get it a touch further forward without incident...

I have the Sportech guards with a 6" rise that's just a few degrees back from vertical as well. No clearance issues with the hood or windshield.
