Could some give me the lowdown on 2001 jetting? It is my understanding my stock jetting is 500's I want to fatten my jetting by one size. I have also been told when you go above 500 the sizing changes, you have to go to 510N as a 520 is actually smaller than a 500.
Could someone help me here as I have added a dynoport pipe, VF-III reeds and I want to put two TPI valves in and I am told I need to go at least one main size larger and put a shim under the needle to fatten the mid range.

Last year I had had no clue on piston wash. I have always run stock sleds, this is my first experiment with vehicular enhancement.
I will keep a real close eye on it.
I just hoped for some insite before the season started.
I do have a couple of online sites that show proper wash, it will be a learning year.
HOPE I DO NOT HEAR SQUEAK

You are correct in your statement that you need to go to the main jets with the "N" suffix. In 2002 the 700 came from the factory (at least mine did) with 520N mains. These equate to approximately, 540s or 560s. The 520 does actually flow a little bit less than the 500 if I recall correctly, kinda like an inbetween jet. There was an article in SnowTech about this as well.
I believe 520Ns would be a safe starting place. Not really for WFO but mainly for the lean mid-range that the Doos with flatslides have. If you are confident that you can address this lean midrange with the needle then you may want to try the 510N. Remember, it is much easier to jet down that to rebuild.
Hope this helps.
